Tom Tom running 2 watch with external HRM strap. Can this combination be used when swimming to monitor my heart rate.

    No, because Bluetooth signals do not travel underwater. The only straps that would work under water are analog straps (proprietary to Polar) or straps that record and store (non-BT). You can use the watch in freestyle mode which will activate the OHR, which may work for you. It is not active in swim mode as the accuracy is not as good for some people but it is worth trying out. However, you will lose all swim metrics.
