I have a go live 100 camper and caravan but cannot access manage community content as this option does not appear when I right click on my drive icon

The one in the notification area? And you mean the MyDriveConnect icon? Try left clicking. (also, device must be connected to the computer)
  • smbsmb Posts: 3 [Neophyte Traveler]
When I left click it opens MyDrive program

Again, I ask.........is the device connected to the computer when you right click the icon in the notification area?

If so and Manage community Content isn't appearing, see what support suggests:

I had the device connected to the computer from the beginning.
I have found a link that opens manage community content and was able to add poi's.
    The link is http://169.254.255.1/pcmi/?locale=en_gb

Thanks for this solution! I wanted to enter a POI file with motorhome parkings, which I already had on my previous Tomtom. Not every change is an improvement :-(
But now it works like a charm.

All very nice, but Manage Community Content does not appear in MyDrive Connect (on Mac).
But I have been able to add the necessary POIs, so I am quite happy.:$

This doesn't work on my Mac either. MyDrive Connect doesn't even see my Via 53. There's no option to "Manage community content". The web addresses above don't lead anywhere either. Got to say, I only just bought this sat-nav but it'll be going back to the shop tomorrow if I can't find at least a workaround.

The "Manage community content" is for NAV3 Devices only
MyDrive Connect is more or less redundant for the NAV(5 Wifi) devices
It's used it for the initial setup of your Account and Registering the device

The NAV5 (Wi-Fi) devices like your Via 53 update using Wi-Fi...
All the update actions are executed on the device...
Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Maps

To load POIs... Use the MyDrive Web (v2) Route planner... It's Webbrowser based so it will run on a MAC
    Here... https://mydrive.tomtom.com/en_gb/

See Tomtom Video... How to import POIs, GPX files and Favourites in MyDrive Web (v2) Route planner
    [video]

    End

If Wi-Fi is not available... Updating your new NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device over USB will require "MyDrive Connect"
    Get it here.....
    www.tomtom.com/getstarted
Run MyDrive Connect... (MyDrive Connect needs to be running in the background)
Connect your Device to a USB Port on your PC
MyDrive Connect will only show a "Splash screen" saying "Connect your device using Wifi
Updating a NAV5 (Wi-Fi) device using USB is the same as using Wi-Fi, all of the update actions are executed on the device...
Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Updates & New Items
Extra Maps are Installed/Maintained... Tap the 4Dot(.... Menu) --> Setting --> Maps

Thanks for the input & the explanation. Does this mean that I can't add community POI's then?

    Hi
When you have installed a/some POI Catagory/s the POI menu option will become active

See Tomtom Video... How to import POIs, GPX files and Favourites, in my earlier post

    Method.....
Tap (.... Menu) -> Setting -> Appearance -> Show POI list on Map... Choose the PIO Category you want to be displayed on the Diving map
Tap the associated "Hide" Blue Text... A new menu opens choose one of the generic POI Icons -> Tap the Blue (^) Icon Screen Top Right to exit the setting menu
Now Drum roll restart the device
Charge the device for at least 2Hrs "OR" have the device plugged into a power supply
Press and hold the on/off button until you hear a drum-roll sound then release the on/off button.
You won’t lose anything; it’s just like rebooting your PC
I use a Soft/drum-roll start after any upgrade large or small.
It’s also useful to keep in mind for sorting out most minor niggles......

I spotted that, thanks. So where can I find POI's then?
  • YamFazManYamFazMan Posts: 14,972 Superusers
    Hi
Just Google "Name of POI" + POI
    or Google "Free poi files"

I use this site the POI are free but you have to join the site

Thanks for taking the time to explain all that. I've just taken a quick drive into the centre of Avignon (somewhere I'd NEVER go without a satnav) and it all went very well. I haven't tried inputting a POI file but I'll give it a try later tonight. Once again, many thanks for the help.
