TomTom website- checkout error 406

i'm using a via 1400 and it wont let me go to the payment and keep giving me check out error 406

    At the bottom of this screen are a variety of links. Under Support is Contact Us. Select it, make sure your country flag is showing, select your device from the dropdown window and buttons appear including email and phone. Select one to contact support.

    This problem has been going on for years. Tom Tom seems powerless to fix it. Ive tried to buy map updates for the last few years and everytime I try, i get this error. (checkout error 406) I tried explorer, firefox, and google browsers. nothing solves the problem. If i run into difficulties using my TomTom, I switch to google maps on my iPhone. It seems the best solution is to NOT buy a TomTom. ( have owned 4 tomtoms. You would think I had learned better.)
