Reinstalling the Navigation app for iPhone

From this FAQ:

The TomTom Navigation app for iPhone is no longer available for purchase. As an existing user, you will continue to receive updates to the app and the map.

If your app is still installed on your iPhone you are alerted in the Updates tab of the App Store app whenever an update is available.

If your app is not installed on your iPhone you can find it in the App Store by clicking on one of the links below.

To install the app you first need to click on the app price and then tap Buy. Don’t worry - after you have entered your Apple ID and password the App Store recognises that you already own the app. You will not be charged to re-install it.

We recommend that you keep your TomTom Navigation app installed so that you are informed of app and map updates whenever these become available.

    I tried this just now to reload TomTom Western Europe on an iPhone 5 with 2.9Gb spare. The button for downloading turned into a circle, but the download never took place, and after a time the circle was dimmed. I tried this lots of times. Sad, because I can't get on with Go Mobile - just to look at it I had to delete my copy of Western Europe. Having deleted Go Mobile as being too large and working on a subscription basis - I would need in-app purchases just to drive across France, for example - :?I just can't get Western Europe back, which is distressing. What can I do?

    I answered my own question, but it was pretty obscure: I connected my iPhone to my desktop iMac, and used the link given above on the iMac using iTunes to list the app as belonging to my iPhone, and then synced the iTunes account to my iPhone and Bingo, the app appeared on my phone! I have absolutely no idea why the first method - just using the App Store on my iPhone - didn't work. But at least I have now reloaded the older app, which by the way has got me out of many a tight corner despite some deficiencies.

    I always thought that it is only possible to receive app-updates when the app itself is still available in the Appstore. Now that the origional TomTom-apps are not available in the Appstore anymore, I wonder if it will be possible to receive further updates via the Appstore. Does anybody know how this works?

    I purchased TomTom USA, version 1.11. I went to the download link and I'm prompted to pay for the app again. Can TomTom provide me a code, so I can download the app again? I have my iTunes Store receipt and order number.

    Welcome to the forum!

    I'm afraid you post is a bit confusing. "TomTom USA" would seem to refer to the old Navigation app for iPhone/iPad, but the latest version of that app is v1.23. The version number you mention seems to refer to the GO Mobile for Android of which the latest version is indeed v1.11.

    If you're indeed on an iPhone, perhaps my comment here helps you. If you have an Android phone, please post on the Android board.

    I got it settled. I called the support line, who instructed me to go ahead and click to buy it again, and I wasn't charged.

    Then links are not working for me. I just get a general download page http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ where I can download Itunes. Itunes is already installed on my machine. How do I get around this?

    Hi everybody!

    I'm sorry if my english isn't good enough :(

    1 year ago I bought a second hand iPhone 6, and it had TomTom Iberia installed in.

    I don't know how but it dissapeared from my iPhone recently (i'd delete it, probably), and didn't know how to reinstall it as Tomtom Iberia isn't available on iTunes (I don't want to install TomTom Go as i use the app just twice a year, so i wouldn't like to pay for it every year or 3 years: i use it in very few occasions).

    I found this thread and i got to reinstall it on my iPhone, but there are 2 questions i don't know:

    -The first one, my credit card has been charged with 44,99€, and it was supposed not to be charged.

    - And the second one: i can't see TomTom Navigation in my purchased app list (but i'have received a bill from Apple.

    Do you know what has happened?

    Exactly! I purchased tom-tom when it was brand new and in development state, I supported it and paid big dollars back then, and also recommended it to many people who also bought it as it was a life time purchase, simply put why do I need to pay for the new app if it is replacing the old app? This is in breach of Australian consumer law!
    Also I might add the new App is disgusting! the old app is way better in appearance!!! Please bring back old school skins especially as default Australian style !

    Welcome to the Forum!

    Are you using a computer or your iPhone to access the link? If you try doing that on your iPhone it usually works

    Please make sure to be logged in to iTunes & App Store with the same Apple account as you used when you bought the app in the first place. Then when you click the link to the correct app, you first have to click "buy", but after verifying your password, the App Store will recognize that you already bought the app before and let you download it again without paying!

    Okay so I originally purchased the TomTom app many years ago for a lifetime subscription and nearly £70 GBP to learn that now it has been replaced with TomTom Go which although I get 3 years subscription free is nowhere near lifetime. I guess that 3 years would of been better if it was 10 years grr

    Welcome to the forum!

    The subscription model of the new GO Mobile app is a bit different than what you had on the old app. With GO Mobile you can install any available map and get updates for it. The Unlimited Navigation subscription grants you the use of TomTom Traffic and Speed Cameras for the period of the subscription. For more information, please see the following links:

    There's a contact link in the bottom of this page. Please, provide Customer Service with a screenshot illustrating the issue.

    Also, please not that, as mentioned in the FAQ above, you indeed need to click the Buy button in the AppStore. If you're logged in with the same Apple ID you've originally purchased the app your purchase will be found and you can install it without having to pay again.

    Hi!

    Two years ago I purchased TomTom Usa ? Canada + TomTom Mexico. I now want to redownload them on my iPad. I have followed your instructions mentioned in previous posts. Nothing works. I get the Purchase Button but when I click on it Nothing happens. When I'm logged into my Appstore account, I click on the small cloud but nothin happens. On top of that because of your Micky Mouse download system I have clicked the wrong link to download an app already purchased and got the wrong app. I downloaded by mistake Canada + Ak. I am now charged $80.00 for something I do not want. All I would normally have to do is click on the "Purchased" app and voilà. Whys does it not work with your applications. No need to say that I am VERY disappointed and hope to be reimbursed for this mess.

    TomTom have replied and the problem has been resolved.
    When clicking on buy it brings up a message that says you have purchased before and the item is free. :-)
    Just ensure that you click on the correct map type or you will be charged of course.....
