It is not true, it is not a different browser that solves the problem I am using google's own. I too cannot buy any maps. This is the second tom tom that I buy it will be the last time. My maps are 11 months old and I have tried to update/buy new ones since the beginning and nothing works. I am switching to Garmin. I have had enough of TomTom not supporting clients.

Same problem here. Trying to purchase map before I leave for Europe. Go 2535. Forums say happens a lot ... keep trying. You would think TomTom would be all over this. People trying to give them money but they will not take it is never a good business practice.

I have had the same problem and was told that there is a problem with Internet Explorer and that I had to use a different browser - but I don't have that choice as I am using a work PC that can't be changed in that way. I think Tomtom should make it more obvious that there is a problem at the moment! AND THEN FIX IT!

I am switching to another manufacturer...who knows may be I will be lucky this time (third time lucky)

see below:

Dear Sir or Madam,
Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Care.
This is an automated response to confirm receipt of your question. It is mandatory to install this software to ensure your device will operate as expected.

The new software is now available via MyTomTom. The update is straightforward. I have had this navigator for 11 months and I have not been able to update it.
I used to have another TOM TOM and I had the same problems, after having spent 700 pounds on two TOM TOMs, I will switch to something else. I would like to have a solution to this problem in the next 3 days, as I have to travel extensively after that.

Got a question?

- Try to disable your antivirus and firewall, use Firefox, and make sure that your computer is not going into stand-by or similar.

- Clear the cache before each update attempt. Also could do a soft reset before and after the update.

- Make sure you have the latest Adobe Flash Player and Java installed.

- Make sure you have all the latest updates and hotfixes/patches to your OS.

- In case the device looks like hung during the update or the counter stopped, just leave it. It will be fine in a few minutes.

- Check your network connections, make sure that the TT's network adapter is enabled

- Try to uninstall and re-install the MyTomTom application

- Any further issue: Try it on another PC, try it with different USB lead (below steps are Windows specific)

- Whilst the device connected, remove the drivers from the Device Manager (Windows/Control Panel), DELETE the drivers

- Remove the MyTomTom application and run CCLEANER (will remove your history, cookies, etc by default)

Perfect, why not just throw away the PC or even better I have already thrown away TomTom for the last time and I will buy something different.

How comes I have no problems with buying anything from internet using IE or using google or using firefox, without lowering firewals and so on. When the problem is clearly not my on my set up which is "standard"?

Thanks for the tip, but I have already made up my mind.
