Initally TT said I needed a new unit and would give me $10 towards a new GPS. Whoppie! Also TT downloaded the wrong program for my unit. Why! Registered and downloaded before! But later after nothing on GPS I went to TT and tried again, now my original unit works fine. TT gives you a hard time if you buy the lifetime updates on purpose!!!

You have to register the activation code found in your package of materials....in theory, you can do it online but most find more success by calling CS at 866-486-6866.

I downloaded updates shortly after purchase and all seemed to work fine. 6 months later I updated again, and then awhile later I traveled. The GPS would not work properly. I could only load in direction to my favorites. All new searches caused the GPS to stall and then after awhile it reset itself and would not pick up any satellites at all. Annoying

I have already registered my TomTomm put in my promo code & received the initial updates. Now, I am trying to go in to get the quarterly updates & they system wants me to pay? I have followed the instructions & the site keeps taking me to purchase updates, but I am supposed to have free lifetime updates. Hello? The site says to go to My Tom Tom & click get updates after signing in, but there isn't such a place. I can see by the site a lot of other people are frustrated by the same problem. Please help.

Are you logging in with the same email address used to register the lifetime maps? Are you using the 'get new items' link? What map version is currently on your device?

You may need to call CS at 866-486-6866.

Not sure if this will help anyone, but I found the solution to my problem. I have the TomTom programs set to where I have to open the program, I don't allow it to auto run when my computer starts up. Once I opened the program & plugged in my GPS, it automatically took me to the update. Hope this helps someone with this very frustrating problem!!!

Hi hnowicki,

you'll find that code on a card that's been in the box of your device. On that card it read's DO NOT DISCARD!!! as well as you'll find the code on it. On some of the newer devices there's no code any more. There the lifetime maps are linked to the serial number. So please call support and provide them with a copy of the card or your device including the box so they can see the lifetime maps being told to be available and the serial number on the device and provide them as well with some proof of purchase.

Regards
Lars.
