<li-spoiler> </li-spoiler>
Thanks guys - makes sense, was thinking along the same lines as what you suggested there Iain.

Thinking that maybe a delay timer would be the best way to allow the power to return to a stable state before energising the GPS.

Hi,

I have my VIA Live 125 configured in the menu options to switch off automatically as soon as it no longer receives 12volts from my car ignition. This works great.

Is there any way to make it switch on in the same manner i.e. as soon as it receives 12volts? - it is a real pain to have to reach behind the unit every time to switch it on.

I have noticed that sometimes it does switch on automatically, not sure why

It supposed to switch ON automatically, if you have the latest software (since 11.035 it can switch on...maybe even 11.031).

If it does it sometimes, it may be the way the power is wired up. In my case, the cig. socket is on the accessory position. If I turn the key one "click", my unit powers up. If I don't pause for a second or so, and just turn straight to "start", the TomTom remains off. I think it needs power for a second or so to react. If you tink about it, in my case, turning to "start" means the power goes on, off, on, off, off, on, which is a bit confusing for me, let alone the TT :smileysurprised:

Iain

Erratic performance after period of inactivity

If I don't use my TOMTOM Via 125 for a few weeks it behaves very erratically for up to an hour after I plug it into my vehicle again: It struggles to find a GPS position, won't turn on, goes extremely slowly and/or freezes. The battery seems to dischage during a fairly short period rendering the TOMTOM all but useless for the first hour or so. Surely it should work properly as soon as it is plugged in?
