Buddies gone and being FORCED to install latest app

Can anyone advise me on how i can update my devices 3 x 740 4 x 940 with the latest maps but without being "FORCED" to update to the latest application because i and no doubt many others would like to keep certain "services" my colleagues (tissue viability nurses) who contact each other via buddies find this feature an asset and essential, they can team up or locate each other very easily, however tomtom ""FORCE" users into installing the latest app (which will delete this feature and others) without giving me the choice.....can it be done

Can you not just un-tick the option to update the firmware? Can't remember right now how it was, but usually you can de-select the one that you don't want.

No, de-selecting is not possible anymore with the latest versions of TomTom HOME. There are ways to bypass the application update, but I'm not sure I'm allowed to share this here on this forum. I'll ask the forum staff and if they agree I'll post the method here.

Why they removed that option? They can't force you to update something that you don't want...unless they say the new maps are not working without the new firmware.

Okay, here it goes: Download the program_9430.zip file from this link: http://www.2shared.com/file/I9mbblgW/program_9430.html. Then, extract the file and copy the program folder (with the Application.tlv file inside) into the root of your TomTom device. Now, when you connect to TT HOME, it won't offer a new application update anymore. Please let me know if it works for you.

Edit: Updated the file so it's working again.

megalos, copied program folder and tick for application has disappeared, in the process of downloadiung latest map and will let you know how i have gone on,

This way you are fooling TTH believing that the device already has navcore 9.401 installed... :smileywink:

If/when a new core will be released TTH will force again the update!

In my opinion is safer the following solution that will let the user remove the tick from the application update! :smileyhappy:

That method works about the same (it's all about fooling TT HOME); if a newer version of TT is released, you need to update the application.ini file as well. So you have that problem with both methods :). Maybe it's possible to just enter 99999 in the application.ini and application.tlv file so you're good for some time :). I haven't tried that yet though. Anyway, I think it's best to let the users decide which method they prefer :-).

Actually the very best solution would be that TomTom remove the update forcing!! :smileylol:
