Downloading the new map now.

PS: The myTomTom program notifies about the new map update even without having to be logged in to the TomTom account. When going to the mapupdate page the map is ready to download and I didn't had to login to download. On the knowledge base it says to login first. Logged in to be on the safe side.:smileywink:

I thought I might have been first to get it... booted up my laptop this morning, peeked at MyTomTom and saw the notification about new items, followed the link to the MyTomTom page on the web and started the map download. I sauntered out to my car to fetch the 2535 M Live, waited another 25 or so minutes for the download to finish and plugged my TomTom device into the laptop. Install was quick and painless, and my device is now updated.

Not necessarily (using my best Maxwell Smart voice), I COULD be living in Kiribati- Christmas Island, Kiritimati, which would make mine the earliest morning of all...

@Ditte, why does the MapShare Reporter still use the obsolete map? It's unfair to waste the users' time asking them to correct the errors which might very well have already been fixed in the most recent map.

If nothing else, I could use it to keep an eye on traffic and the predicted ETA, and call ahead while I'm on my way to Grandmother's house to let her when to expect us for dinner...

The new update appeared to download alright, but the installation has now failed four consecutive times. All I see is a "Something Went Wrong" message on my Via 1535, and now have no maps installed on the device. Any ideas? Thanks.

Reboot the device

When the device is disconnected from the computer, perform a full reboot (all settings are kept):

Press and hold the power button for approximately 15 seconds untill you hear a drum roll sound, when hearing the sound release the button;
Wait untill the navigation screen is shown;

Reconnect the device to the computer, verify that the installation proceeds. When it doesn't go to the following step.

myTomTom

* Disconnect the device from the computer.

Cache

Click on the myTomTom icon in the system tray;
Go to the settings;
Click on the tab 'cache';
Verify that the white box is checked next to the text 'place large items in the cache folder';
Click on the button 'clear cache';

Internet port

Click on the tab 'connections';
Change the port number to 4001 or 5000 (click on the button 'test availability', when the port is available then a green V sign appears next to the button;
Click on 'save settings';

Close and restart the program

Click on the myTomTom icon in the system tray;
Press and hold the shift button while selecting 'close';
A notification window appears, press and hold shift while selecting 'close';
Go to the windows logo in the system tray - all programs - TomTom - click on the myTomTom shortcut;

* When required connect the device to the computer.

880 was just out November 15th. 885 is due in February 2012.

I was also wondering why the VIA doesnt show the Eisenhower Ave Exit ramp from the 495 Wb/95 NB express lanes and the entrance ramp from Mill Rd to I 495 Eb/ I 95 Nb NB express lanes in Alexandria VA. I sent the corrections in a month ago. Can someone tell me if they can look at this? Thanks.

Hi,

if you log in to your TT account on the Map Share Reporter Tool if you sent the correction that way you'll be able to see if the changes are still pending or if they are accepted.

When being published the map is always about 3 months old due to the development time. So if you only sent the correction a month ago it'll be probably only implemented in map v885 as the time to include in v880 was too short.
