Downloaded and installed this morning. Thanks for finally fixing this problem. Now please fix the rest of the functionality promised that should have been available when the Via series was introduced.

Downloaded and installed as soon as it was available for my 8535 M Live. I left the TomTom disconnected while doing the download to my laptop - and then connected the device once the the download was complete. Approx 40 mins (as I recall?) for the download, and another 35 mins for the install. All worked perfectly first time - thanks.

Got it on my GO930 with no issue.

When installing v.875 to my 2505TM, got an error and "No Map Found". Eventually got it fixed and installed after 4 hours of trying.

I downloaded the latest map and it still doesn't show the place where I have worked for the past 6 years

I even brought this up with the company as why am I paying for the latest map updates when they are the same

I was assured the last time that the address and the route to get there would be updated in the next update.

That was last May...

The address I have worked for the past 6 years is

3810 Garner Road, Riverside, CA 92501

I just used the address you provided with Tele Atlas Map Insight.

They don't even have that road on their database yet.

If Tele Atlas does not have it, no way TomTom will have it in the future update.

The right thing to do is to report the road on Tele Atlas website.

Dittes edit: removed link to Map Insight, as TomToms MapShare reporter tool is now the best place to correct errors.

that address has been on Yahoo maps and Google maps for years and they are free services

So for those like me, that purchased a new device and following instructions and installing the not so functional My TomTom application and getting automatically the outdated v8.70 just 3 or 2 DAYS before this release, now have to purchase a new version in order to stay up-to-date?

Do you think it's fair?

I think you have 90 days guarantee for the latest map update. So it shouldn't be a problem to get this latest map I guess?

As I wrote before, I followed the instructions and connected the device with PC and installed the My tomtom application (later on the same day that I got my new tomtom device (on the evening 12/13th august).

After contacting Tomtom support ( a couple of times) I got the answer that I got my ONE TIME update right according to the guarantee on 12th august this year ( He was writting like it was a long time ago) , just a couple of days before the v8.75 was announced over here.

He claims that on 12th august the v8.70 was the latest version for my device; in other words I wasted my time (with that long download AND wasted my guarantee) BUT:

When I visited the Tomtom shop page with my device connected with my PC, right on the next day ( 13/14th august or maybe the 15th ),I got the message that my map was OUTDATED and the v8.75 was available for PURCHASE.

The person from Tomtom support claimed that everything went according to the rules and if I still disagree I can contact Tomtom support directly by phone ....and that's what I am going to do tomorrow (Monday).

In the meantime, do you see the OP or an Admin reacting to my posts?

Anyway he wrote me that during the 90 days guarantee you can update only once.

Tomtom doesnt care that I was only 3 or 4 days too early with an update, just because I was following install instructions on a brand new device type that should have the v8.70 already installed anyway....

No, it's not fair, and I was almost in the same position with a one week old 825 that came with January's v865 map. I unclicked the option to download v870 and emailed Support. After a bit of arguing they "put it up to Management" late Friday and on Saturday (yesterday) my Get New Items offer had changed to v875 - result!

So just hang on in there and insist that you would not have downloaded a 3 month old map to update a 6 month old one to satisfy the Latest Map Update guarantee.

I started writing my last post before you posted yours which is shorter and more "straight to the point"

It's a shame that after purchasing such an expensive gps device, customers have to struggle and "hang on in there" to get some decent service....

Sounds to me the advice to give new purchasers is to wait just under 3 months and then update. That way they will get the latest map within the one time update.

Offering 3 months free update is a selling ploy as I cannot think of anyone (unless they are used to TTs ways) actually waiting 3 months before updating. They could make it 3 years and get the same result - everyone will update as soon as they get their device. Better to make it free updates during the first 3 months.

To me it sounds like a con (a legal one of course).

Not true in my experience. The latest map gets attached to your account at the time of purchase.

I bought a 1000 with V850 map and on connecting it offered me V870. I didnt update as I knew another update was due August. It will still only offer me V870 even though V875 is now available.

Even more proof that the 3 months promise is useless. So now a new user must not register their device but can they use it? Will it still work fully if not registered to a user? I expect so as it should work straight from the box. They could wait 6 months and then register their device and get the latest maps - or will they. :smileymad:

On my last message to Tomtom customer care, I try to explain that I would not have downloaded a 3 month old map to update a 6 month old one to satisfy the Latest Map Update guarantee just 3 days before v8.75 was available (Tomtom shop).

Eventhough I dont get any reaction (anymore) from Tomtom customer care, I wont jump to conclusions just yet.It looks like a selling ploy, let me first call Tomtom Customer care directly...
