Re: computer not recognizing device

The root directory is the top level of your unit. Like the C:\ drive is the root folder on your computer. So, the folder would go in the root of the unit.

Re: computer not recognizing device

I'm still not understanding.

The instructions said to download files -Done

Put the downloaded files on the TomTom's root directory - ??

How is this accomplished when the TomTom and the Dell aren't speaking to each other ?

Have you reset the unit by holding the power button 10 seconds till the drum roll? Are you using a usb port on the back of the unit (preferred). Are you using the proper cable that came with your unit?

Re: computer not recognizing device

Yes.  I've heard the drum roll a dozen times today.  It takes almost 45 seconds to reset.

Are you using a usb port on the back of the unit (preferred).

Tried a backside USB port on your advice.  Same result using the two ports up front. Nothing.

Are you using the proper cable that came with your unit?

Yes.

Earlier today I deactivated Avira anti-virus but I'm still not getting a device to show up under My Computer or in TomTom Home.

I have the same problem on my laptop, but mine did work until yesterday.  It still works on my desktop. Jump drives recognized on all 3 ports. Even deleted and reinstalled home. Uninstalled ports and let reinstall.

Re: computer not recognizing device

Hi,

For me - my tom tom directory is: C:\Program Files (x86)\TomTom HOME 2

Should the home image folder be copied inside this path (in the TomTom HOME 2 folder)?

Please advise. Have the same issue.

I dont get the message - "Do you want to connect to 'computer'" :smileysad:

Any help will be appreciated!

Re: computer not recognizing device

When you open the drive of the TT device, it shows you the root straight away...hence the name root.
