I have become so frustrated at the lack of help I have received trying to fix this problem that I have subsequently destroyed my 3 month old device and taken it down the tip with my old kitchen, which is where it deserves to be.
Maybe not the right idea, but I had a device that cost a fair amount of money that was just totally useless and I didn't see any solution at all to the problems I was having and to top it off, CS emailed me today asking what the problem was, I mean, are these people serious!?!
I HATE TOMTOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello,
Maybe you are right to do so? It took me 3 days to make it works again.
3 weeks ago they have sent me an update. I still don't want to update for fear to destroy my tomtom.
The hardware is OK but the Internet update software is a mess!!!
Good Luck for the next navigator!
Best Regards

Same problem on the USA map on Via 1505. Tried uninstalling both TomTom SA and TomTomHome and reinstalling both but no answer working yet after 2 weeks.

I don't know what TomTom SA is but you should not be using TomTomHome. You must use MyTomTom.
Here is where you get it and more:http://us.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_

TomTomSA is the name of the program on a Mac OS that replaced TomTom Home. I get that program ffrom the links you referenced. It means Support Assistant as far as I can gather and it runs in the background until you connect your Tom Tom device and then it is the download and install tool used.

If that is to replace TomTom Home, then that is the wrong program. The Via 1505 is a Nav 3 device which cannot use TomTomHome so you must use MyTomTom through your browser. Sorry I am not familiar with Mac software.
You will find MyTomTom software download for the Mac here: https://tomtom.com/en_us/mytomtom/getstarted/

Well I realy appreciate your help. On the Mac the program is actually called MyTomTomSA.app . I tried a reinstall and still no good so what I did was install the software on my Macbook and the install completed on the first try. I know it makes no sense but It works now and now you know about MyTomTomSA so help all around.
Thanks again,
Stu
