Hello everyone, I have a brand new tomtom XL live I have navigated 0 times with the tomtom, i have updated it and the day I wanted to use the tomtom it got stuck in the tomtom screen the one with the hands, then I tried resetting it press the on/off button for 20 secs, then turned it on again it seemed to start again but after a minute it got stuck again. When i tried turning it on again the tomtom didnt even show a single sign of starting up no screenlight no image nothing, Please help I really need it for my work and it is only a week old.

I know this sounds dumb, but have in plugged it in a computer with the device turned off for a few hours to allow the battery to charge up. If the battery is very low and you plug it in the car it may not come on because the charger can not supply enough current to charge the battery and power the unit.

Thanks for the answer,  but i let the tomtom charge all night and still the charging light is on and it still does not start, i really  dont know what i have to do now, i hope someone can help me

Infant mortality. Best thing you can do is take it back. I shouldn't act that way out of the box. Especially if after updating it, it was still working.

Funny mine stopped yesterday and I left it plugged in overnight. Press and hold the power and nothing.

Seems like we have the same problem what will you do  now ? I am gonna email tomtom to see what they will say I will let you know what the answer will be. I suggest you do the same and let eacht other know how it worked out

I am hoping that when I get the charger back tomorrow that perhaps the voltage change from the computer will jump start it. I just renewed my subscription but now that google has traffic for free I would be inclined to not buy a new tomtom

Let me know the outcome, does your charger light also stay green all the time while charging, i let it charge all night thru the laptop but the next morning it was still green, this light goes out when I take out the cable ofcourse.

The green LED light is a power present indicator, it does not indicate the unit is charging. To view the charging status you need the unit turned on and then touch the bottom right blue status bar. You will then see the state of charge of the battery and if it is charging or fully charged.

The tomtom doesnt even start so there is no way to know when its fully charged ? the green light will keep on glowing even if its full ? I tried pressing the on/off button for a minute but still no luck it stays off, also when i connect it with the laptop it doesnt find the tomtom like it normally should
