Mine has stopped working also after this update, have tried restoring the TT from my computer but no luck, I have also tried to backup my device to my computer but this does not work either, where do I go from here I think TT should start reading these forums and help to put things right.

Looks like a problem with the backup stored on your pc.
First try to manually install the backup files to your gps.
1. Using Windows Explorer open your gps drive and delete any files / folders on the gps.
2 Next go to the location of your backup and select all the files / folders in the folder
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backup\ONE XL\Backup02\InternalMemory
The files / folders you are copying will look like this.
3. Copy these files to your gps.
If you receive an error again then you have a corrupted backup.
==================================================
If you have another backup such as one made using Windows Explorer you can ues this.
Other possibilites in restoring your gps are these.
==================================================
Install items from the downloaded / saved folders. These files are not part of the backup files in Home.
With the gps not connected to the pc go to Home -> Manage my device -> Install items from Computer, see if you have the following items available.
1. Application
2. Voices
3. Maps
4. Safety Cameras.
Delete the files and folders again on the gps and then, add the items to your gps. These items are not files from your backup so they may install without any problems.
==================================================
Delete the corrupted file in the backup folder.
C:\Users\Owner\Documents\TomTom\HOME\Backup\ONE XL\Backup02\InternalMemory\Europe_West\Radar_ES_To
mTomOv2.ver
You should also delete two other files in the folder.
1 Radar_ES_TomTom.ov2
2.Radar_ES_TomTom.ov2.dct
Hopefully there is only one corrupted file in the backup folder, so you can manually copy the backup to the gps without
any other errors.

not very happy with service recvd from TT..

I've got the very same problem; no GPS after the february update.
You can follow the thread I've placed on : http://www.tomtomforums.com/t27699-xl-live-iq-no-g
In the mean time, is there anyone who'se got the device working again ?

For reasons that I won't go into, I never applied the software update until last night. My wife and I both own the same model XL and I updated the minor map and camera updates, and the mandatory software update. I then made the mistake of backing up. To my horror both XL's gave the message that the Australian map would not operate. I tried everything including reinstalling from the backup, but it too was corrupted and the XL's simply refused to recognise the Australian map any longer - so I couldn't tell if it was seeing the satellite. Then I remembered that thankfully we both use Macs, and I rolled back (thru Time Machine) to a previous saved Tom Tom file for both XL's. I did a reinstall and they both worked again. Just for a test, on mine, I went back into the Tom Tom updates, and applied the mandatory update (interestingly, you can't update maps or camera's or anything without updating the mandatory software update), and sure enough, I experienced the same issue of a lack of map recognition. A quick reinstall from the older backup fixed it.
So, I can use my GPS's, but I cannot update maps or anything, because it will update the mandatory software update. Great!! I have written to Tom Tom, but nothing back yet - now I realise just how wide this issue is and how it is affecting different models differently, I won't hold my breath waiting for a solution, except, when it is time to replace them, I won't be coming back to Tom Tom!

Sent it to after sale service to make it work again...
Good service, but no Tom Tom for few days.
