Re: Tom Tom XL2 IQ - Safety Alerts Disabled

It asks for money when I try to add it using Tom Tom Home but I already had it on my device free of charge when I bought it so why should I have to pay now?

Dear xmfclick, You definitely seem to know more about this than I (batteries lasting consistently over three years), but from what I understand, making and selling electronic components is a competitive business, and they will offer warranties to be competitive.

If they fobbed you off you let them. Your complaint date should still be the valid date for your complaint, and your compliant should still be valid.

JasonsXL2IQ:

The problem simply was that when you do your free map upgrade, I guess because of the size of the map you have to select a view, in my case it was western.

I discovered by looking in the tomtom directory that the problem is the speed camera files were not copied across from the main euro map to the newly installed western view.

I just copied them across, and now it works.

Shoddy work tom tom......

How can I do the above? >>>

Finally solved the safety alerts problem.....but one more little problem: the beeping sound when approaching a speed camera isn't working...any idea anyone? The option of adding sounds is greyed out on Tom Tom Home>>>???

Re: Tom Tom XL2 IQ - Safety Alerts Disabled

I assume that you have a sound selected in the gps for each type of camera.

Re: Tom Tom XL2 IQ - Safety Alerts Disabled

Go to Change Preferences, then to Status Bar Preferences, if you check Maximum speed, you will get the speed limit sign. On mine XXL if you leave the Maximum Speed unchecked you will get compass degrees. If you go to Safety Preferences, (within Change Preferences) you can set Warn me when I drive over the maximum speed. You can then choose the type of sound for the warning.
