My TomTom XL power cord metal tip that makes contact with the DC source in the car is missing (probably fell out in a rental car as I'm a road warrior). I need to replace either just this tip (the part it screws into is still fine) or the whole power cord. The page for purchasing chargeres and bables in the accessories area of the website is not responding. I live in the USA. Any suggestions?

Any auto accessory plug (cigarette lighter) with a mini USB connector on the other end will work. Just make sure the output is not above 5V DC.
Try Radio Shack.

Yep. It's a little hole in the bottom of the GPS. I found a retractable (USB to Mini USB) that I can use with an AC USB charger that came with my e-cigs it works great for charging in the house without having to connect it to the computer.

I had the same problem on a recent trip. The metal contact piece fell out of the DC charger and, of course, i can't find it in my car (I did find the spring, however). It must be a defective part. I have an XXL 550 which has the FM radio antennae for traffic reports built into the power chord. A Tom Tom replacement charger for DC in autos does not restore the FM service. I need to repair my power chord and I don't want to spend USD 70 to replace it when all I need is the metal piece that fell out.......really silly....

have a look if the missing part is still in your 12V socket. If yes take it out. It may cause you further trouble.
Go to an electronics shop and try if they have the missing part for you and repair your charger that way.
Otherwise have a look at Amazon. They usually have those chargers at discounted prices compared to TT and they are still original TT replacements. I've bought such a charger with integrated RDS/TMC receiver for my XL Live IQR myself so I've got traffic information even if the live services fail.
Usually the chargers posted below should all workwith your device. If you'd like to be on the safe side take the one that's listed as fitting to your device.
They should all be around $45.

Yes, I checked my vehicle over well (that's how I found the spring). The end piece is not in the DC socket.
Electronic shop is likely the way to go in terms of saving a few $. It's disappointing that the part fails so easily....and the FM traffic receiver is in the chord...which I don't understand why it's engineered that way......just build it into the device. Most of us daily commuters need the traffic updates. They are timely and very useful. I love my Tom Tom XXL 550. I use it daily and on trips.
Best from Texas.....
