Hi PDixon0101 !
I am having a similar problem updating my XL IQ Routes TT. I get an error message followed by all this stuff about "chrome" but I don't get the large preamble above it that you copied in your post. This is worrying because it was during the update process that TT downloaded a system revision that installed in a flash - then the usual maps updates failed and now my device is not working correctly because I cannot access "Favourites" (addresses) and it now tells me my device cannot use the "update/Restore" button! So I cannot automatically restore to the last backup (after the last update. I have emailed support with the problem but they have had unusually large number of quiries and cannot respond straight awaya (as advertised)!
I really do not see why people purchasing these devices should be expected to hold degrees in computer programming to keep them running! That's what we pay TT to sort out. Judging by these forums and my experience - the devices are good for use - as long as you do not allow TT further access to them!

Even I am receiving the same error. I tried all the solutions given in TomTom website and didn't work.
ERROR: HomeBase/IO: Error writing file: H:\PNDNavigator

To fix the problem,
First I had to fix a problem in the memory of the unit itself. (I would get an error message on my PC indicating there was a inconsistency on the TomTom). But when I fixed that the tomtom would no longer work.
I called tomtom and they had me run tomtom home and go to "manage my device" and relaod the software. After that and a fee updates it was working fine.

If you are planning to format the gps be sure you have made a manual backup using Windows Explorer first. Here is a link for the procedure.
Next follow the instructions in this link. for formatting and reinstalling the software and map.
I would recommend running "clear flash tool" and " disk check" to see if these helps before formatting the gps.
After you run the check disk utility use windows explorer and look for a folder in that the utility might have created in the gps drive called "FOUND" if it is there delete it.
Also if you have alot of POI's displayed on the gps you should remove them. POI"s consume a lot of CPU time.
