I have a used tomtom and I can't read the Serial Number. I had someone else try to read it, but it's just to small. How do I tell what device I have? I know it's a XL, but there are many listings for different XL's.

connect your device to your computer and use the Explorer to find a file called ttgo.bif on your device. Open that file with notepad and you can see the serial number.

Well, that is one of the biggest reasons I wanted to know which one I have, It didn't come with a USB cord and I need to know which one to buy. Any other ideas??
But I will keep that info. The more you know, the more you grow! Thanks!

The device needs a Mini-USB to connect.

If you are looking for the serial number of your unit. You can just connect your gps to your pc and use Home to see your serial number. Just go to the top of the window and pull down the help menu, then select "system information" Your serial number is listed in the system information.
Or depending on your model...if your unit is reset by holding down the power button, then if you continue holding the power button for another 5 sec after you hear the drum beat you will get the diagnostic screen....you will see the serial number in the information displayed
