Re: Device not connected

Hi, sorry if I am out of line here. I have just acquired a Go 1000 Live, having previously used a ONE. I have followed what I think are the guidelines, but do not get the message to "connect", so cannot operate my 1000 via the computer - cannot see the drive in windows explorer.

Re: Device not connected

Hi alfat52

Are you using TomTom Home2 or MyTomTom to try and connect your device to your computer?  The GO 1000 Live uses MyTomTom. If you are using MyTomTom already uninstall it then Download and Save the MyTomTom software to your computer. Then run the installer and hopefully your device will then be recognised and connect. If not come back to us with as much detail as possible about the problem e.g. what happens and when, any error messages etc. including what operating system you are running on your PC. Then we can try and help you better. Also have a good read through this forum including the section for the Go 1000 as it is likely the answer you seek is already out there.

Re: Device not connected

Thanks for getting back.

Operating system Windows7; browser Firefox

Downloaded install program InstallMyTomTomSA.exe

As previously suggested I uninstalled the program, ran a registry clean, downloaded and saved a second copy of the install and then ran it ( MyTomTom support application Version 3.2.0.700 ) this installed the program into the default folder My Tom Tom 3.  If I try to open MyTomTom nothing happens

If I turn off the 1000. then plug in the usb, the 1000 starts and the browser opens https://www.tomtom.com/en_gb/mytomtom/overview/index.jsp?dwc_settings=port:4000&dcp=32264

There are two significant messages:

(1) TomTom GO LIVE 1000 Connected

(2) There is something wrong with your device. Try disconnecting and reconnecting it to your computer.

Device not responding, please Contact Customer Support..

Hope that all makes sense

regards

Alf

Re: Device not connected

MacBook Pro, OSX 10.7.4, Firefox.

I have an XXL that Home just wont connect to. It did the first time and uploaded some updates but since that first time all I get is no device connected.

I have trashed Home, downloaded it again and installed again. The XXL just goes straight to the Map view, no option to connect to a computer so Home does not start on its own.

Re: Device not connected

By the sounds of things you are not a novice computer user as you know about registry cleaners!

I have spotted that the default folder has a 3 on the end though. After you uninstalled and ran the registry cleaner did you also delete any other My TomTom folders and files still remaining? The fact that the default folder has a 3 after it implies that there are two other MyTomTom folders still there. It is quite possible that shortcuts etc are now pointing to the wrong place hence it will not launch. Sorry to be a pain but perhaps check all this and do a reinstall after getting rid of ALL traces of My TomTom.

As your PC is saying the device is connected I assume you can also see it as a removable drive in My Computer? If this is so it is most likely a fault with the MyTomTom installation. After doing the stuff above will MyTomTom launch without connecting the device to the PC?

Re: Device not connected

Hi,

have gone round the loop again and ensured that all of the tomtom installation as deleted - did a reg clean again for good measure, but still at square one.  The new installation puts it into My Tom Tom 3 folder as before - I presume that it picks up the 3 from the version number - or maybe that is just a red herring.  Also I cannot see it as a drive in windows explorer

Re: Device not connected

further info - just tried on another laptop - this time running XP - and the same scenario, including installing the program into My Tom Tom 3 folder

At this stage let me ask a question - with my previous Tomtom1 device, I could use it via the computer - great for organising tomorrows journeys -  should I be able to operate my 1000 in a similar manner?

Re: Device not connected

As I do not use MyTomTom and this board is really for HOME users I am beginning to struggle however You may want to follow the advice for getting your PC to recognise the device at this link http://http//uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/7375/c/2356 as it should be the same as far as I am aware. If not can I suggest you try the GO1000 live board as the users there will be more familiar with your device and the MyTomTom application. Sorry I can not help you further.
