I previously owned a TomTom XL device and purchased several voices through the TomTom Home software. I really enjoyed the voices and having someone like Billy Connoly tell me where to go made the experience much more fun.
I would like to know if it will be possible to have custom voices on our Android phones? I know in google you can download 3rd party apps that will allow you to change the voice, but I would love to be able to use my already purchased celebrity voices. This is the one thing from stopping me downloading the app right this second, so I would like to know if it is possible.

Will that be the sort of thing where there are just additional voices you would be able to download through the play store?
In the mean time, will it just use my default android voice or is there a specific TomTom voice?

I Emailed tomtom about this recently and apparantly it is something they hope to allow in the future but not just yet.
My guess is that they will because they can make money out of it by selling voices :-)

it may be an undocumented way, but if you have a community voice and copy the *.vif and .chk file to the following folder did the trick:
+ activate in settings
Now I can hear my Swiss voice Anton in my app.![]()

@ FunFan,
buying a voice on TomTom Shop will provide the voice as download in MyTomTom or in TomTom Home. So there is no way to download it to your mobil phone as far as I know till now.
If you can get a voice from the internet above mentioned way did it in my case.
