Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

TomTom you need to do something with the way your updates are installed! I have a 16G 4S (don't ask, I wasn't first in line, thus I had to settle for the 16G version;-) and currently I have 4G free (after thorough cleaning), still I have a problem installing my TomTom-app because of your unpack-install procedure... Even though I have more than double the size of the app!?

Hi, I am having the same problem, every time I try to update it says I do not have enough space. Did you manage to find a solution? Thanks

Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

My major issue with the new update is that I spent some time doing advance planning and saving the routes to my calendar only to discover that when I open the calendar entry there is nothing there to activate the route in the tomtom app.  I was forced to redo the route at the time I needed to use it.

I've submitted a support ticket but have not heard back - presumably because support is working other issues that have been raised in this forum.

A feature request - make sharing optional as has been requested but add the ability to backup tomtom info in the cloud so that I can create a route on my ipad and then use it on my iphone.  In the prior release I tried that using the save route to calendar and that didn't work then and still doesn't work.

Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

I just received the update and took it for a ride and noticed that it don't stop talking. I set up a route that I used with the previous version and the only change is it talks to me constantly. I was going down a road and it kept telling me " In 250 feet stay right and then stay in the right lane " my turn wasn't for 4 miles and the road has no jogs or forks of any kind. Every 250 feet it repeated the message. Even on the highway it told me my exit was 7 miles away, but every time I went over a bridge or the road turned it would tell me what lane to be in.

In the last version it would alert me 2 miles before a turn and then on the turn. When the road split it would alert me to that which is good. However,  this updated version is very confusing.

Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

Hi,

Since version 1.10 I have the same problems.sked TOMTOM over twitter and was referred to the phone support. Why in 2012 should I ring an expensive helpline? So I have emailed via support page and see what the answer is now.But I am on IOS 5.1

and reset my phone and even went to the local Apple Store and had my phone examined and there is no problem with it.Even has been restored and completely wiped and installed TOMTOm as the only application on it-still the same problem. It can't be the GPS receiver because Viewranger,Googlemaps are working fine.

Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

Can we please have a choice of what icon to use, or go back to the generic TomTom icon - I rather resent the assumption that anyone using TomTom is in a car, since half the time I'm on a motorbike.  Especially galling when 'What's new in v1.10' says "WINDING ROADS: Rediscover the thrill of riding.  Simply enter your destination and your device will suggest some biker-friendly, alternative routes for you to explore...", which kind of suggests you guys know we're not all in cars.  And I'll stick with the arrow pointing the way instead of the choice of 'car symbol' - no bike symbols available then!

Not specific to the new version, but also wildly irritating on a bike, is the automatic changing to portrait/landscape.  When the iphone is in a tank bag and not far from flat, taking a bend or even braking can mean you suddenly have to read the map sideways or even upside-down.  And it's not as if it changes back instantly, or, sometimes, at all.  I would really appreciate being able to set it to landscape or portrait, so I don't keep having to suddenly work out which way is supposed to be ahead - not easy when you're just glancing down while riding.

Another thing that still hasn't been sorted out is the 'places of worship' in POI.  Surely Anglican and Roman Catholic churches count as places of worship?  Apparently not.  It can show me hairdressers and casinos, but not churches that people have been worshipping in for centuries.  It's ridiculous, please sort it out!

Oh, and I'm not happy about the whole social networking integration thing, but then I've never navigated using my contact details anyway, and haven't logged into Facebook on TomTom, so I'm just hoping it doesn't start broadcasting where I'm going.  That really should be something you can add if you really, really want to bombard people with useless information, not something that's thrown in with useful stuff like Map Share.

Re: New TomTom Navigation app for iPhone/iPad - v1.10

I only ever update TomTom when I've got hours to spare, every time I have to remove all my music and photos to do it, then sync them all again, it takes forever... If there was a solution to this I would keep TomTom updated!

It doesn't seem to work on the new iPad (3rd generation) - It will not get a GPS signal

Hi,

After trying a iphone app called GPS details I fond out that my phone hardware was the culprit.I had GPS signal problems. My car icon moved off into housing estates around 100m away from the road that I was travelling on.GPSdetails confirmed this inaccuraccy and so I went back to the genius bar at my local Apple Store. They replaced my Iphone 4s as they accepted the findings of this GPS testing program.
