I am having the same issue on an iPhone 3gs and iPad 2. The reset procedure provided in this thread did not solve the problem. Perhaps the problem will go away when the next version is released with the new maps.

I am also experiencing this issue. TomTom's only suggested remedies are to delete downloaded Map Share updates and re-downloading and if that is uncuccessful, then try uninstalling the TomTom app resetting the iPhone and re-installing the TomTom app.
Neither of these resolved the issue for me. So I placed a phone call to TomTom technical support. They advised that I contact Apple. Apple wanted to charge me either $69.99 for Apple Care or $29.99 for one-time support incident.
Why should I have to pay to attempt to troubleshoot a conflict that exists between the iPhone OS and the TomTom app. Shouldn't TomTom get on the phone with Apple and resolve this issue?
I was told by tech support that they were going to give their best effort to resolve my issue and that my satisfaction with TomTom's product is your prime concern. I'm not very satisfied with this proposed solution and I certainly don't feel like TomTom telling me to contact Apple to troubleshoot this conflict is a "best effort."

It appears as though the problem has been fixed. Delete downloaded updates and reset the iPhone by holding front button and top button until Apple logo appears. When iPhone reboots initialize TomTom app and re-download Map Share updates. The issue should go away.

I have the same problem with Tom Tom for iPhone. When downloading map updates the progress bar gets almost to the end, and the program crashes. I have tried resetting the download data, resetting the iphone, etc. None of these work.
Need a fix for this ASAP as it seriously compromises the performance of this program.

Have you tried doing all of that within the past hour? If not, give it another try. I think TomTom and/or Apple recently fixed the issue.

I did all of these steps. I also deleted the Tom Tom application from the iPhone, did a cold reset of the iphone, then resynced the iphone and reloaded Tom Tom for iPhone.
It STILL crashes. Perhaps the download file is corrupt?

Just tried it again with same result - crashing. To be specific, when I run the map updating, the progress bar first says "downloading", then it changes to "installing", and gets almost to the end of the bar when the Tom Tom for iPhone App crashes.
This is a serious bug which needs attention from Tom Tom.

Interesting. Mine worked as well. When I tried it this morning, it had 7000 updates. When I tried it an hour ago it had 6999 updates. Perhaps it was a bad update record.

I am using a Verizon iPhone 4. I wonder if that makes any difference?
