Rider New Maps

I have just purchased the Western Europe Maps for my TomTom Rider (1st Edition) as an update to the original maps. Due to the size of these maps, I have also purchased an new (blank) Sandisk 4Gb SD card to install them on

Having installed the new card into the TomTom, connected the device to my PC, I have set about installing the updated maps. This process appeared to complete successfully - having downloaded the maps and installing the latest TomTom device application onto the new SD card. However, when the TomTom Rider is powered on, it reaches the TomTom screen with the logo, having completed "loading" screen with progress bar, and then the device powers off.

I have tried removing the application and maps from the SD card, and reloading them, which did not rectify the issue. I have also tried resetting the TomTom, and powering the device up, but again with no success.

With the device powered down, I have swapped out the SD cards (back to the original), powered the device up, and the TomTom functions as expected - eliminating a fault with the physical TomTom device.

Re: Rider New Maps

Hi,

it is not clear to me: Did you buy a 4GB SD card or a 4 GB SDHC card.

Read >>>this<<< long thread to understand the background of my question.

OK, fine. It should work.

Presumed you have firmware 7.901 on your old (working) SD, you may copy all their contents to a drawer at the harddisk.

Then format the new (not working) SDHC with FAT32 and copy all the files from the drawer at the harddisk to it.

Check out if it works in this condition, before attempting to install further updates or the new map to it.
