I recently updated my Rider 2, and went to use the unit yesterday.
Now, at the best of times, I find the Bluetooth on the Rider 2 to be a bit hit & miss, but...........the phone functioned fine, for calls.
But the SMS functions don't function at all. I can't write any messages, but, more importantly to me, I can't receive any, to the Rider unit, either.
I spent hours and hours yesterday pairing, re-pairing, deleting the phone, adding the phone, importing the phone book etc etc, but no matter what, of the 4 options on the message menu, on the Rider 2, 3 of them are 'greyed out'/inactive : Read Inbox, Write Message, Write Location Message.
The only working, active one, is Read Outbox messages.
So, what am I missing ? If anyone can shed light on this, I'd appreciate it.

Hello galwaytt,
I would like you to take a look at the TomTom Mobile Compatibility List:
As we speak, it seems that the Sony Xperia Neo has not passed in the compatibility list for the Rider GPS.
This means that the pairing between the GPS and the Rider is not stable or cannot perform at the level that TomTom considers deemed worthy.
But as you said, the ICS is being released for many devices and this means a lot of testing and likely the possibility of inclusion of many more mobiles.

Hi Hero - thanks for that - actually your Reona sent me the same link.........I have to admit I was gobsmacked that the Sony Neo wasn't on the list - my old Sony is, and works great, so I has assumed the new one would automatically be equally compatible, if not more so !
So now I have a dilemma - change the GPS or phone platform............ ???

Hello galwaytt,
In your situation i would wait a few weeks and see if any good news comes. It might save you some bucks, but in the end it's your decision, you have the power of choice! ![]()
