Re: Update to Status Bar

I have contacted TomTom and got a quick reply with instructions on how to fix this problem.
I'm yet to try them but if anyone is interested they are listed below.

"First install HOME software on computer to reinstall the device application.

Visit the below link for q software download. www.tomtom.com/home

Once you have installed the HOME on computer then follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

First backup the device through HOME. - Connect device to HOME through USB cable - Click on 'Manage my device' icon in HOME - Click on 'Items on device' - Select map and click on 'Copy to computer' - Done

Then follow the below steps to reinstall the device application.

STEP 1 - Delete the application from device

- Connect the device to the computer and open TomTom HOME - Go to Manage My One - Click ‘items on my device’. - Select the application (navcore). Do not select the map, voice or speed cameras. - Click ‘remove items from device’

STEP 2 - Delete the applications from the computer

- Go to Manage My One - Click ‘items on computer’ - Select the applications (there may be more than one navcore application). Do not select the map, voice or speed cameras. - Click ‘remove items from computer’

STEP 3 - Re-download the application

- Go to ‘Update My One’ - Select the application - Click on ‘Update and install’ - Repeat this process until no more applications are offered.

Safely disconnect device by clicking the blue eject button at the bottom of the HOME.

Then Soft-Reset the device. Visit the below link to know the steps to soft reset the device. http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6965/kw/reset

This should fix the issue.

If the issue persist, provide us the device System Information for further investigation.

The System Information can be found by following the steps below: • Connect your device to the computer, turn it on, and then open TomTom HOME • Click on Help >System information • Click on Copy to Clipboard and then click on Done (you won’t see anything happen at this point) • Now open http://www.tomtom.com and log in to your account in the top right • Click on Support on the grey bar at the top, and then on the right hand side under support links, click on My questions • Click on the Question with reference 120222-002856 • You will see a box here that says Add additional information to your question - right click inside this white box and left click on Paste • Click on Submit to update the question

- If you are unable to send the device system information following the above steps, then you can send it as an attachment in MS-Word file or you can paste the system information in the message box provided to write customer query.

Once I have this information, I will be able to have an in depth look at your TomTom and resolve the query more effectively.

Re: Update to Status Bar

If I followed those steps I would be concerned the Tomtom may never work again, they should just send a new software update to solve the problem.

It would be nice also if you were told what the changes would be before choosing to update.

Re: Update to Status Bar

Joe -

Yes, please let us know what happens.

At best, I don't think the "problem" will disappear, since the new Status Bar is a "feature" of the latest TomTom revision, and has been noted by several posters.

At worst, you will spend a lot of time finding that out.

Methinks we would appreciate YOUR spending time to follow those instructions, so you could prevent others from wasting their time.

Re: Update to Status Bar

Hi all,

Well I followed TomTom's instructions on how to fix the tiny speed display to the letter.

And the results are.......DRUM ROLL..............absolutely no difference.

I'm sure they'll come up with a fix, I just hope it happens before I buy a Garmin.

Cheers,

Re: Update to Status Bar

I have just had this reply from TomTom, they are just saying tough, live with it.  Looks like it will have to be a Garmin.

.

Thank you for taking time to contact TomTom Customer Support. My name is Samantha and we are always happy to help.

From your e-mail, I understand that the font size of the display is smaller in the latest application.

Please be assured that I will try my best to assist you.

I would like to inform you that the display settings has been changed in our latest application to improve the use interface.

For more information about the features embedded in the latest application, please follow the link http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6141/kw/application.

As the Graphics has been improved for clearer instructions, hence the font size is small in size.

Can I request you to please provide us your contact number (Mobile/Home telephone) to update our System Details ?

If you have further more queries please do not hesitate to contact us back.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

With Kind Regards

Samantha

I thought one of the safety goals was to keep the driver's eyes on the road, rather than on the device.

Adding more text, and making the font size smaller does not help achieve that goal.

Now we know ... it is not a bug, it is an unanticipated enhancement.  :smileysad:
