Re: SD card Slot

About what device are you talking? The SD-slots should be working now for the newer TomTom models. Which application version do you have installed?

Re: SD card Slot

Hi,

the SD card slot has been enabled on your device as well with the update to 11.030 and 11.031.

There are only some issues remaining on TT's end concerning some of the Start devices. Those still not being able to install the latest maps to SD card are the ones where the serial numbers start with the following characters:

BL, BN, AP, AS

For those devices the map isn't being offered or the map isn't installable to the SD card due to a problem in TT's back-end. They know about this problem and are working to solve it.

Regards
Lars.

Re: SD card Slot

Tx Lupus1 for your answer ... but I'm confused !

My Start 25 S/N starts with BL.

I am then able OR not able to use a SD card ?

meaning, if I have a SD card with, for instance, USA maps, can the device read it ?

what does it mean to have the "slot activated with the update to 11.030 and 11.031"  but at the same time "Those still not being able to install the latest maps to SD card are the ones where the serial numbers start .... with BL" ?

Tx for your help

[ Edited ]

There are many different Start devices. Some time ago, the SD-slot was enabled but for some Start devices it's not working properly yet. This is the case with your Start. So at this moment, you can't use it. You have to wait for TT until they fix the problem.

Re: SD card Slot

Tx Megalos ... this is all very frustrating ! I bought the Start 25 precisely because of the slot ! It seems TT isn't bothering too much with this issue and I feel cheated !!

Re: SD card Slot

Hi,

as far as I know they developed the update to enable the SD slots on all NAV3 devices. However this back-end problem was unforeseen and therefore they're determining ways to solve this problem and to solve it as soon as they know how they could do it. Taken the time it took them to enable the SD slot I fear it might take some more time although problems in the back-end are usually solved faster than problems with the application itself.
I suppose if they'd known about the problem they might have postponed the update release.

Lars.

Re: SD card Slot

Tx again Lupus1

If I buy the microSD card from TT (USA map v8.70) that is "compatible" with device Start 25, will it work, my device being a BL S/N ? will my device access the maps and use all its functionalities ?

Re: SD card Slot

Hi,

no, that won't work that way. When inserting the card for the first time it'll be formatted so you'll loose all the data stored on it. Also those cards being sold including the maps are quite expensive and are used with older devices.

You're currently stuck with your current map. As soon as the problem with the devices with those serial numbers is solved you'll be able to purchase just any microSDHC card with up to 32GB capacity and use it with your device. Even if you get a map update and it won't fit on your internal memory it'll be installed to the memory card then.
