From the Start Reference Guide:
About Settings
You can change the way your TomTom Start looks and behaves. Most of the settings on your device can be accessed by tapping Settings in the Main Menu.
2D/3D settings 2D/3D settings | Tap this button to set the default view of the map. To switch between 2D and 3D views while driving, tap the centre part of the status bar in Driving View. It is sometimes easier to view the map from above, such as when navigating a complex road network. The 2D view shows a two dimensional view of the map as though viewed from above. The 3D view shows a three dimensional view of the map as though you are driving through the landscape. The following buttons are available: In 2D view: rotate map in direction of travel - tap this button so the map is rotated automatically with the direction you are travelling always at the top. Switch to 3D view when following a route - tap this button to show the map automatically in 3D view when you are following a route

Thanks for your quick response however this as not helped me.
On the driving view i have 3 blocks/buttons at the bottom of the screen.
MPH 2D 3D No Route Planned
All I can do is swap between 2D & 3D (No button for rotate map in direction of travel)
If I have a route planned then these buttons change
MPH next direction is displayed Arrival time
If I tap where the next the next direction is displayed the view changes from 2D to 3D
Anymore ideas please???????????
Thanks Redx

I too have the same problem. when I have my start in 2d mode it does not show my direction of travel properly and I have search all the settings and have been able to locate anything that will allow the compass settings to be changed. is there a way to have it so the map always points in the direction i am moving. I have been in situations where the map is actually traveling backwards.

I spoke with Tom Tom and they told me because the model is a Lower cost/budget version it does not have all the options of other models.
Guess we stuck with upside down maps :-(

This was my third Tom Tom gps and it will be my last. That is just stupid to no have the ability to adjust the map no one wants a backwards GPS. I guess my next purchase will be a Garmin as the cost is the same and they don't have this issue. Their maps point in the direction you are going. I bought the unit for my wife who is not into technology and this map business had her lost several times. This truly isn't anyway to treat customers, especially when they are relying on the product to get them where they are going, not get them lost!!!!!!!!!!
