My device is listed as end of life so support from Tom Tom is limited. Everything I download my map updates I lose my favorites. I have read some comments about cfg files but I don't believe that's an option for me. I have tried under manage my device in TomTom Home and select favorites and then save to computer and after I download the new maps , the favorites are lost or gone. I'm not sure why this is such a big deal to do but maybe its because I have a old unit and its impossible for me to do this. I'll try anything and any help will be appreciated.

Hi there.
The best way to not lose your favorite is to make a copy of them before the map update
The file name is ( map settings c.f.g. ) and its inside the map folder.
To get to that file you click on start / computer / Tom tom drive / map folder and inside the map folder your going to find that file.
Make a copy of that file to your desk top and once your finish the map update you need to install the file back.
..................................................
To reinstall the file back after the map update...
First you go to start / computer / Tom tom drive / map folder and delete the ( map settings c.f.g. ) and then copy the back up from your desk top and paste in side the map folder
That would fix your problem and your will have your home address / favorites and recent destination back into your device.

Hi,
additional to that information please create a backup using Explorer/Finder every time before applying any major changes like i.e. map or application updates. That way you'll automatically have the latest mapsettings.cfg file in that backup and only need to copy it back to the map folder on your device.
