@mikbro: When did they delete it? Last time I've seen, the locations were there yet (and it was last week). Last week I was still getting French speed cam updates (3x in total).
Edit: Just checked it, and it shows the location of the camera...

If it is illegal, Tomtom should update the French speed cam database, by deleting the speed camsThey have and they did so since Jan 4th, can't you read?flettonav, the French Government make the laws in France, not an idiotic website.Whatver, if the idiots want to risk it then do so. The database is obviously not updating so new cameras are not being warned about. Go for it and I hope you lose your licence and your vehicle, we don't need you on the roads. You are clearly unaware of the power the Gendarmes have.
Mikbro, I did not suggest that the website made the law, only that it is trying to interpret it.
Finding a solution is important to me, as I do not wish to lose my licence, and I wish to know where there are cameras so that I can monitor my speed more carefully. Satnav is invariably more accurate than a speedometer.
For the french speakers there are a number of websites with traffic information, viamichelin, Bison Fute among them.
For french residents, perhaps you would consider joining the Ligue de Defense des Conducteurs which lobbies against repressive motoring legislation and is currently opposing 500 more cameras with no prior warning sign and 50 pursuit vehicles with the capability of flashing you in a stream of traffic.

One thing is for sure. There is a hell of a lot of confusion among TT users.
TT may have covered themselves LEGALLY but, by their failure to address the questions being posted here they are doing NOTHING for their reputation and for the goodwill of their customers. Virtually every GPS manufacturer or mapping company has addressed the outstanding problem of can we, or can't we, LEGALLY have 'danger areas' marked. Until TT address this point there will continue to be confusion and they will continue to lose the goodwill of their customers. Having also talked to my main Renault dealer they too seem to be very annoyed with TT. Loads of customers asking for a clarification that they are not in a position to give. As I said, TT may have met their legal obligation by posting instructions on their website but until they clarify the position further they will learn, to their cost, that there is more to good business practice than legality.

Hi guys,
It's an interesting discussion you have going on here, and as much as I appreciate you all sharing your views and beliefs on this topic with us, I ask you to stay courteous.
I am looking into getting you all an update, and will let you know as soon as I have something.
Thank you,
Ditte
To be fair Ditte, you have been saying that since last December! Everyone else seems to have done SOMETHING except TT. All this frustration is down to TT and their continued silence.

@Peebs - I understand it's very frustrating, and I'm sorry that I can't give you answers to the questions you guys have. That I'm looking into getting an update for you all doesn't get any less true though.
As we state here:
"We are working on a new service for France that warns you about danger zones instead of speed cameras."
Working on a new service includes getting the exact specifications for the variety of our products. We're not interested in putting our customers in a situation where they could possibly be fined because of our software.
All the best and drive safe,
Ditte

@Ditte/mikbro (and Mike):
It is really getting ridiculous. Another comment edited by mods. Some smarty pants keeps talking b*llocks, that is not corrected/edited. As soon as someone tells the fact, it is. How should I keep my calm when people without a tiny bit of common sense are posting all sort of rubbish???
You say I shouldn't receive France speed camera first, well it is there, have a look at the date and time. Then you say it is blank, then why is the speed camera on the map when I play the demo? How do you explain it with a map and camera service purchased last week, and you say it is all disabled/not available since 4th of January? Just a loads of horse manure, not a solution. Either delete it completely or mark a longer part of the road as danger zone, which includes the camera location, but not the exact spot. Don't give me the: "It is not downloading m8" and "It is not there" speech. It is downloading, and it is on the map. Full stop. Not just for me, and it is not a fault with the unit. Get it sorted. Instead of editing the posts, you could use the same amount of time to upload a blank file to the server.
