Re: Speed Cameras in France

Likewise, I also live in France and have not received any email from TT.

One thing I do note though is that on this forum it says that I am in the UK but I can't find anywhere in my profile to correct this - any pointers please.

Go to My TT.  Then to My Account and there is a space for where you are.

How long do we have to wait before you bring out the new 'dangerous areas' alerts...... thought you might have already been well prepared for this coming.

Re: Speed Cameras in France

Hi, I agree that many people will not be aware of the new law: I sent a mail to Sky News but they didn't use it. Do you know the tolerances on speeding? Tighter than UK at 5kph up to 100 then 5%. I notice that viamichelin route planners show "dangerous areas" now, come on Tomtom, I'm waiting to buy a new satnav, but no point if it doesn't help me avoid a fine!

Re: Speed Cameras in France

Was thinking about this one. I followed the various links, including the bit about mobile phones are off-limits to the French police because of the personal data they contain even if they include navigation software and possibly radar locations.

Turns out my Tomtom Rider includes the same personal data as my phone in the form of my phone book but also includes my previous locations and times, places I find interesting (don't ask), etc all of which can make it very personal. Having linked the phone and navigator together and when the integration process completes they are to all intents and purposes a phone navigation system that contains my personal privileged data in the same way a navigation App equiped mobile phone is.

Clearly this version will need testing but I don't see why someone hasn't spotted this before.

Hi peebs,

Sorry for the very late reply. I see that a mail was sent to you regarding French speed cameras on the 12th of January. Did you receive this? Otherwise have a look through your spam mail folder.

Thank you,
Ditte

Re: Speed Cameras in France

Mattie, the latest information I have about the new Danger Zones is that we're still waiting for the accurate specifications before we can accurately develop it.
We will keep you updated as soon as we have any news.

Thank you,
Ditte

Re: Speed Cameras in France

Yes, I did get the message in FRENCH. While I can read this some member might not be able to do so. Why can't TT send out their messages in the language chosen by the member?
