@mikbro: You try to tell me that I am keep receiving an updated version of empty file of France's speed cams, yes? Because there is a newer version. First you say I don't receive anything. Then I prove it to you with picture evidence that I do. Then you say now I DO receive, but to remove... Which one of your statement is not true (didn't want to say lie...)? And you also say that I am roughly the only person on the planet receiving that empty file to remove the cameras...which ones are there yet... And why would I receive like 15 times of the same nothing??? And guess what...for over a week now I haven't received ANY speed cam update... No France, no UK, no nothing. Should we not receive it 2-3 times a week? Even when you get it OTA? And my Tomtom wasn't even switched on for a week to receive it OTA, before you say anything.
One more thing... Since Ditte writes her name with a capital "D", that would be the minimum that you provide that amount of respect to write her name correctly, regardless you agree or disagree with her. Regardless it is a forum, not an official letter...

peebs24,
Well thanks for that because I was sure that I had read something about a law coming into force sometime, but for the life of me I could'nt find it again!
As for the mobile camera location info, I think that there is nothing that I can do myself to guarantee that my 750 stops receiving this. I simply do not understand why TomTom continue to relay it to us over the air.
I had thought of deleting the alert for mobile cameras from my device, but if this only stops me being given an actual alert when I approach the camera, then it would be a waste of time. I have been told today that this is also all that disabling alerts will do, and as some of us are aware, disabling alerts does not stop the location info from being received.
Guess I'll be watching TF1 at 20.00 a bit more carefully tomorrow.

Hello Ditte,
From my other posts on this subject you can see that the problem that I have is that I am still rceiving location info for mobile speed/safety cameras.
As I live in France it is essential that I find a way to resolve this issue.
I have contacted TT CS (UK) asking if the TT Server is STILL relaying or transmitting this info O.T.A. and received this reply this morning:
"...You are right to ascertain that some of the mobile speed cameras on our server are there as a result of customers selecting 'report safety camera' on their device. In some cases, we also have 3rd party companies who provide information about mobile speed camera locations. However, in the case of French Speed Cameras this information should no longer be available.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to simply turn the server 'off' as such for just one country. I understand we are looking into the possibility this at the moment. In the meantime, as we continue to provide mobile speed camera updates for the countries in Europe where it is legal we still update the devices over the air. However, as I have explained, the mobile speed camera locations should no longer be available."
I received this reply yesterday from TT CS UK:
"...Our 2nd line technical team have confirmed that we still update the mobile speed cameras over the air for the countries we cover in Europe. However, the information about these mobile speed cameras is gathered from customer feedback and 3rd party companies across Europe who provide the relevant locations. As it is no longer legal to have Speed Camera alerts in France this information should no longer be provided"
I have e-mailed back and asked for a direct yes or no answer to my question being, " Is the TT Server STILL relaying or transmitting this info".
"...should no longer be provided", is neither yes or no.
Do you have any imput you could add please.
Thanks

I'm back in France now, and have done a bit more research. As far back as May last year, there was discussion on the subject and some manufacturers signed an accord with the government agreeing to modify their devices to show "danger areas" of 4km on motorways, 2 km normal roads and 300m in towns. Coyote signed, Tomtom and Garmin didn't. Garmin appear to have legalised their devices so why haven't tomtom and why have we been discussing ways to comply with the law when the solution has been known for ages?
The penalty for supplying an illegal device is up to 2 years in prison and €30,000 fine so maybe crazyfrog ought to denounce TT to the authorities!
I shall be buying a new satnav, ot "aide a la conduite" in France; I don't think a supplier will risk selling a non legal device but what about Amazon?
Incidentally, some manufacturers are offering part exchange of non compliant devices against a new one.
On the other topic, I thought that the ethylotest law came in in July, maybe this law is being applied early in some departements? I'll check tomorrow when I go for my MOT.

Nothing is impossible when there is a will to do it. unfortunately, TT have clearly demonstrated their lack of will and their complete distain for their customers. Vote with your feet!!
