Re: No GPS signal

Do you have an email? I'm in Africa but bought it from UK.

@ Aresee: What happens if you hold the power button all the way until the black diagnostic screen with the white text? Are you able to do this? Also, try Firefox or Google Chrome, or put IE9 in 'Compatibility' mode. There are a lot of issues with IE9 in 'Normal' mode.

Re: No GPS signal

Three quick taps on the power button, about a half second apart. Then, connect the unit to the computer. The MyTT web page should open and download the last good application to your unit. This is known as the Recovery Process.

Re: No GPS signal

Tomtom staff finally emailed requesting further information yesterday, I confirmed computer setup etc and that I have also completed all possible resets mentioned in this Forum and explained even with 11.037 and everthing else working as it should and confirmation from MyTomtom web site that my device is up to date - my unit (Tomtom 1005 World) still says "waiting for a GPS Signal".

Have not heard from them since.

Tomorrow it will be two weeks with no GPS and all the hassle / updates / resets etc and still no formal comments or explanations about their ongoing broken service. The least they could do is email with an apology and information about what they are trying to do to solve this situation.

They have no respect for their customers in my hubble opnion. :smileysad:

Reply to NoGPS.

Your problem sounds very much like mine. Says you have the 11.037 update, but still won't find a GPS signal no matter how long you leave it.

I have finally got mine working (not sure for how long) by doing the following;

(1) take the unit outside !

(2) hold the power button down for ages until you see a black screen with white text. It might go through a startup screen and off again, but persist holding the button till you get the black diagnostics screen.

(3) then let go of the power button

(4) after a couplke of minutes, turn it off the normal way, short press of the power button

(5) do a normal startup, short press of the power button and then let it boot up

(6) leave it searching for a signal, it should find one in about 5 minutes

(7) leave it running outside for as long as you can, maybe leave it in the car.

I did this and have now been able to turn it off for a few hours and back on and it still manages to find the sattelites. Don't know how long it will last, but I'm hopeful.
