I have downloaded the new update to my tom tom, taken outside and restarted device, stood for over 10 minutes and still no GPS signal. Amy suggestions?

Re: No GPS signal

Ditte --  Has it not dawned on anyone at TomTom that the very fact of having more than 2,000 posts in a single thread says that something is wrong with the product, the support, or both ?

I have at long, long last got my Start to work.  However, it took more than one use of MyTomTomSA,dmg, it took far longer to download the update than TomTom insists on saying, and I then downloaded what were said to be 2 further updates.

This has restored my  splintered confidence in the product, but delicacy forbids me to say what I think of the quality of TomTom's support.

Which TT do you have (http://www.tomtom.com/9521)? Which application version do you have installed on your device (http://tomtom.com/12214)? Did you follow exactly these steps: Solution for the GPS Signal issue?

Re: No GPS signal

Having downloaded the software fix for my new Tomtom Live, it is still proving unreliable.  Yesterday, on the motorway, following a diversion I got the same old "waiting for a valid GPS signal" -  two resets and 10 mins later, Tomtom finally worked.  Just rubbish!  Can I get my money back and buy a different make?

Re: No GPS signal

@dragon1912: You definitely do have 11.037 on the unit, haven't you?

For refund you have to contact your retailer.

Re: No GPS signal

[ Edited ]

@paieye ...of having more than 2,000 posts....

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

2000 posts are not 2000 users that have contributed. As it was Q & A, a lot have written several posts and many were from users who tried - and successfully could help others, to get their devices going again.

My update came down within a few minutes, it was just under 60 MB in size. It installed to my GPS Live 825 OK. After resetting the device, following instructions (admittedly I had two goes at it),  it took a few minutes to get the satellites again.

I haven't heard anything about 2 further updates, that had to do with the 'No GPS signal' problem.

Happy you got your unit working again

Re: No GPS signal

Yes I had this problem, and yes the new code did fix the fault, I did temporarily use the reset boot for the GPS to work until I updated it with this fix(panic before a weeks holiday away from home and 100m down the road where the device had no clue where we were). Now the time to lock on is drastically reduced, I suppose it's able to download the GPS quickfix file now.

I still feel that TomTom sold a product almost at Alpha testing phase, I have not had my GoLive1005 for even a year, it has been returned once as the data/power connector destroyed itself first connection, it has had what I consider an unacceptable number of software fixes JUST to make the claimed options work.

It now works almost totally as expected, and as my previous Go 810? device worked out of the box. Except that was supplied with accessories I have had to purchase as extras for the 1005......... The 810 had a year of map renewals, not the 1005, giving just updates, almost demanding I buy a new map at 7 months old, 6 months of usage, deducting repair time.

Best regards, and good luck,

Marcus

"2000 posts are not 2000 users that have contributed."

Indeed, but still, one might think or at least hope, cause for some prompt, focussed assistance from Tom Tom.
