Re: No GPS signal

@paieye: I would rather get it fixed and sell it, than chuck it in the skip. But your call :smileywink:

Re: No GPS signal

First i would like to say that im really sorry to hear that theres a lot of folks still suffering this horrible thing whatever it is...

I was lucky after 7 days mine started grafting again but theres still a hick up when you still first start it every morning... NO GPS SIGNAL then after a soft drum roll it connects... i know this doesnt help anyone with the torture theyre going thru but its obviously not completeley resolved as mine shouldnt still be having problems...  I posted how i fixed on page 174 i think,,,

if it helps 1 of you it will be worth it... dont give up hope

:smileysurprised:

 Hello Sandwesen,

If there are issues that are not related to the 'No GPS signal', that you think, people may be interested to discuss, maybe it should be in an other thread.

All the best

Re: No GPS signal

Has this issue been resolved yet ?

I have 11.037 installed, but can't get any GPS signal without a reset. I have done so many of the suggestions listed here, but still end up with the "Something has gone wrong" error. Have even done the diagnostic screen plus 3 taps, but that didn't bring up any screen asking me to recover or reinstall anything. Just the normal startup, MyTomTom launches, tries to install updates and then the inevitible fail. The problem really seems to be in the step where the MyTomTom application software tries contacting TomTom's servers. The update routine starts and indicates 2:00 min to go, but then fails immediately after the initial trying to contact TomTom. Looks like it doesn't get a response and gives up. Have Safari on a Mac Osx10.6.8 and have also tried using Chrome. Everything was fine previously until the start of April. Obviously this 11.37 update didn't fix the original problem.

Re: No GPS signal

[ Edited ]

Steps I have tried (which all failed);

Soft reset to drum roll, connected to computer, tried to update, "something went wrong error".

Checked what version I have = 11.37, but still can't get a GPS signal without doing a soft reset everytime.

Cleared the cache, did a soft rest to drum roll, connected to comupter, tried to update, same result "Something went wrong error"

Took the unit outside, did a hard reset to drum roll, waited 5 mins to get a GPS signal, unit found sattelites, got the right location and time. Switched unit off after 10 minutes. Went back inside, connect to computer, tried to update, same result "something went wrong error".

Detached the unit, did a hard reset to the black/white screen, tapped on/off button 3 times, unit restarted. Restored the Factory default settings, did a soft reset. Connected to computer, tried to update, same result "something went wrong error"

Deleted the MyTomTom application off the computer, downloaded a new version, installed it, connected unit, tried to update, same result "something went wrong error".

I have now run out of options and variations to try apart from dropping it out of the 9th floor window to do a really really hard rest onto concrete.

My conclusions are either;

a) the 11.37 update did NOT fix the problem or

b) the MyTomTom application can not connect to the TomTom servers and thus can't download any software updates.

I am running a Mac with Osx 10.6.8 and have no antivirus or firewall running.

I have tried using both Safari and Google Chrome browsers.

I have also tried using a PC, downloaded and installed the MyTomTom apllication and then connected the unit. Same result "Something has gone wrong".
