Re: No GPS signal

and now this is the answer to our problem? Should I rather buy the the Garmin and gave this tomtom away to a very unpopular person to take revenge. I am very very dissapointed in this product.

Could you try disabling your Anti-Virus and Firewall temporarily? Maybe those are causing connection problems. Do you have the possibility to test on another computer?

What is the exact problem? Did you update your device to the latest version? If you provide a little more information, it's easier for us to help you :smileyhappy:.

Re: No GPS signal

@all: Please provide the unit's type and its software version for better trouble shooting, and also a brief description of what the exact problem is.

Comments like: "Help! It's not working." or "I will never buy a TomTom again!" won't give others any idea what to advise.

@ EmmaW

Try the fix I documented here http://discussions.tomtom.com/t5/News-and-announcements/No-GPS-signal/m-p/198333#M2423

Seems like we had the same issue. Not sure why the TomTom website is set to tell people the device is up to date, when it should say it has no idea since it can't connect.

Re: No GPS signal

@dmnj

Thanks for the advice - tried everything you suggested but it's still not working, my device still thinks it's up to date. This is also after disabling my firewall.

Any more advice or am I going to have to return it?

Re: No GPS signal

Hi,

I  have been travelling for 3 days across the UK and have had to reset my unit EVERY time I went to a new location. Thankfully I have a friend who informed me how to press and hold the on/off button for 1 minute to reset the unit. all I had was "Waiting for a valid GPS signal" showing on my unit.  Hopeless !!!!  Thankfully I had my Ipad with me and had loaded Navfree. It got me to all my destinations without a problem. just arrived home and downloaded the latest update... If the problem persists I want some serious explanation why I should not want my money back  !!!!

Just going ouside now to see if my unit works. NO !!!!!

Help.
