Re: No GPS signal

My 1505TM is now working after new download and 20 second soft set. Turn it off and comes back with sats in about 20seconds every time. Move away from window and loose sats, come back to window they are there in about 10 seconds again. It works better now than when bought last Tuesday.

Re: No GPS signal

I connected my tomtom to the computer unaware of the issues with the GPS signals...I wasn't having any until I did the update.  I tried the reset and nothing is working.  Still says "searching for a valid GPS signal" .  What's next??

Re: No GPS signal

@Nichols - it took mine a good 10 minutes to find a satellite - after I did the update and 'soft-reset'...

Now it only takes 20 - 30 seconds.

I'd recommend sticking it to a window in your home that has a good view, or leave it in the car a while... Sorry if you've already tried that, but the 'several minutes' mentioned in the official advice might be an understatement...

If you have no valid ephemeris data, your unit will need to acquire it.  Each satellite sends the full 'almanac' for all of the satellites only once every 12-1/2 minutes.  Be prepared to wait that long for best lock, if it's going to happen at all, that is.

Re: No GPS signal

I bought a tom tom start 20 on saturday and it worked for about an hour before saying waiting for valid gps signal. After assuming it was broken I exchanged it for a new one today and the same thing happened, then I came home and saw the message about the problems tom tom are having.

However, after being told to download the update to fix the problem i tried to do this but halfway through it said something has gone wrong:smileyfrustrated: and now it is telling me i have no map but my tom tom is saying i have no updates available.

So i have a brand new device, with no map, that i cannot update. This is my first tom tom and its not giving my a very good impression! Can anyone help with the map issue?!

Re: No GPS signal

The fix works! Yessss!!!:smileylol:

Poor QC during rollout, Tomtom. However, good job getting a fix in place quickly.
