Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

I just filed my first report.

It is sorry to see users in Taiwan and China still cannot use this great tool.

Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

I filed a couple of reports about 10 days ago - they still show 'pending'. One report was about a recently introduced 2 metre width restriction in both directions on a main road and the other was a permanently blocked road at its intersection with the road having the width restrictions.

This is a great tool but a waste of everyone's time and effort if reports remain 'pending' for any length of time.

Maybe someone from above can advise on the process and timescales for reports to be checked / actioned.

Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

I just checked on the lone report I've made on the site to date. I made the report on September 1, and status now shows as "Report Accepted".

Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

Guessing as to what the statuses mean, specifically, but it seems reasonable to think that "accepted" may mean that they've verified the issue and possibly the correction.

From the help button:

Pending:
TomTom has received your report and is using both people and automated systems to evaluate it.
Report accepted:
TomTom has updated its map database to reflect your report. It may take some time for this change to appear on online maps or to become available in a map update for your device.
Report not accepted:
TomTom has been unable to make this correction to our map. This doesn’t necessarily mean that your report is wrong. We may need more data or we may need to adjust other parts of our map in order to accommodate the change. In this case we add the area to a “to do” list of major map changes, but we are unable to fix it at this point.

Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

It does not encourage the user when they submit corrections based on first hand personal observations of traffic blocks and those reports are not accepted. Why should they/I spend the time and effort to make a report when it is ignored? Tapping the changes into the device doesn't seem to work, either. I have reported one particular grievous map error three times and my unit still attempts to route me through a security fence.

Re: Join in with TomTom’s new Map Share Reporter

[ Edited ]

Actually, if they can be confirmed via other sources such a local government, postal service, aerial images they will get changed. If they went with personal observations only I could have lots of fun blocking and removing road all over the country. They usually don't accept temporary changes to local roads, but extended changes in major roads like interstates will be made. I have entered many roads and most have been added / changed a few have not. If you want to see how many changes are taking place with mapshare you only have to look at the number at the upper right hand corner of Home. That number reflects the mapshare changes made since the last map update which was in August.
