Re: Windows mobile 7 phone

[ Edited ]

Well if TT ever do decide to produce a product for WP7 I'll give it a look but I've gone with HTC Locations. It's a Route 66 product but apparently TT had something to do with it too.

There is a months trial and then....

It's £35 for West Europe map coverage for LIFE (or £27 /year or £7month  but why bother with the short term plans?).

I 'think' its only available for HTC devices but I guess most are HTC or Nokia and the Nokias come with Nokia Drive anyway.

Anyway, HTC Locations, for those that don't know gives you basic naviagtion, full post code searches as well as internet searching (I'm assuming it's Bing but could be wrong) so you can search for the name of a shop or whatever. It give 2D and 3D (TT like) views that are VERY smooth (not the jerky upadtes you get with some paid nav apps). It has clearly spoken directions (samples not Text-to-speech though) and pretty good route planning.

It's missing a few things, you can't go 'via' another location, text-to-speech would be nice to read out the names of roads, needs alittle more info on the display, currently you can choose between remainig distance or arrive time only, only speed and a basic compass direction is displayed beyopnd that. Lane guide gets it wrong sometimes.

There are glitches but still worth the money.
