Please solve this problem because "Ronda de Dalt" can not be translated into other languages.

First of all it's an offense to Catalans and our language, and secondly it's not at all correct.

This applies to all street names of Barcelona and Catalonia in General.

Just search "tomtom" + "ronda de arriba" at google and you will find other people complaining about this issue.

TomTom, please solve this issue!

This is apparently a problem in all multilingual areas or countries. To me it seems you aren't able to have different names (according to the languages used in that area). Tomtom just seems to  run over the minorities although they might be the mayority of that area

In this case TomTom's procedure is pure nonsense. Even if Catalonia is a bilingual community, names of places have only one form. So you can say "Passeig de la Muntanya" (in Catalan) or "Paseo de la Muntanya" (in Spanish) but in Catalonia there's no place named "Paseo de la Montaña" for the same reason there's not a "Mountain Alley".

If Central Spanish Government has no problem with this rule why is TomTom making these silly mistakes?

I've personally suffered this problem because many delivery people are mislead by TomTom when they try to find my home. They phone me when they are absolutely lost and yhey have to follow my verbal directions. Top notch technology...

I got so tired of this problem myself that I wrote a letter to the technical support, not expecting to get any answer. But I did, and they agreed it's a software problem. They claim it works now on their newest devices autumn 2011, and they are working on it to be updated for older ones. 

I've been sending atleast 500 corrections of missing addresses in my own language. Some of them now turn up, some of them doesn't.

TomTom: In Barcelona & Catalonia, Please use the LEGAL / OFFICIAL street names!

In your USA maps, you write"Silicon Valley" and "Mountain View" instead of "Vistas a la Montaña" and "Valle del Sicilio".

In the same way, please use the correct, legal and official names of places and cities in Catalonia!

I tried to understand your issue but I completely failed. When I enter Barcelona as town and ro as the beginning of the street I get Ronda de Dart and Ronda de Arriba as the first two results. Where exactly is the problem ?

I don't know about the Catalanian name problems but here in Finland (bilingual Finnish -Swedish) we have official Finnish and Swedish names of some places and streets. and in addition to that in some parts of the country just official names in Finnish and in some just in Swedish. I can search some of the official Swedish names of towns and cities and some streets but far from all. And as I checked the non searchable names I found that they haven't been entered in Swedish, just in Finnish. But shen driving and using my Tomtom the screen and instructions just use the finnish names although there are swedish names. This in spite of my languagesettings. This is so confusing and irritating

@ Bogi: since I see you are German, let me try with a couple of examples. Imagine that you are in a German city searching for  Heiliggeistkirchstraße or Helmut-Kohl-Straße but your TomTom shows you Holy Spirit Church Street or Helmut Cabbage Street. Useless, isn't it? Even if these translations are supposed to be correct, you won't find any street plate hanging on any wall of that city saying literally Holy Spirit Church Street. And if you ask to any local for a street named Helmut Cabbage it's easy to imagine his/her reaction.
This is exactly what TomTom is doing here; rough translations to Spanish of places that don't have a name in Spanish. If you come to Barcelona don't ask for "Ronda de Arriba" if you don't want to see people laughing at you...

I have just spent a few days in Eivissa (Ibiza). In my guide book and on all street signs on the island the names are given in catalan (or the local dialect of catalan) which are quite different from the spanish versions. This means that when trying to set the sat nav to take me anywhere it rarely finds the place. Laregr towns tend to have similar versions, but small places and street names you have no chance. Once you have been to a place you can find the spanish version from the satnav, but once I have been to a place once I dont normally need the satnav.
