Hi,
I have a current map update 'contract'.
I received an email on 1st December from TomTom, saying that there's a new Ireland & UK map available for download.
I tried updating through tomtom home application on mac.
No new map versions were listed (just two small updates: corrections etc.)
My current map is 'Republic of Ireland and United Kingdom' v880.3868.
Is this the most recent - just curious!
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
yes, v880 is the latest map. That's the reason you don't have any map updates available.

Lars.

As far as I can see the UK & Ireland map is very poor and in fact you are better off with the Eastern Europe map.
The M80 in Republic is problamatic and the Strangford area of NI ( Partaferry, Killyleagh, Strangford, Killinchy) is totally unreliable.
You will get lost very quickly with this map so do not purchase for Ireland.

Hi BoSto,
the data being included in the regional maps is nearly always the same as in the continental maps. The only exception is on some older devices but then the regional maps are more detailed than the continental maps.
By now the latest version is v885 but all online maps still are on v880 so it might be that there have been some corrections on the latest map. If you find map errors please report them using the online Map Share Reporter tool so they'll be corrected in future maps. After being accepted it'll usually take until the next or second next map for corrections to get implemented.

Why should the user be responsible for providing map corrections. The system does not work anyhow when you end up hours from where you should be.
The N. Ireland maps do not even work for post codes - they will accept the first 4 such as BT30 but not the subsequent details of the post code so that does not work either.
I think the maps are a conn and will never re-order as the updates are no better.

When I used Tom Tom in France and also in England I had no problem.
It is well know in Ireland that Tom Tom has made little effort to make its maps functional.
We are not talking here about the odd update with new road change, We are talking about the UK and Ireland map simply not having the most basic information outside of the main cities.
Just two examples from my recent visit to NI:-
The TT could not find 1 Cloughey Road, Portaferry BT22 1ND OR
6 Shore Road, Killyleagh BT30 9UE
In the case of the latter, it sent me to Strangford which is miles away and in case of the former, it was sending me near Ballynahinch but I knew that would be incorrect.
I could give lots of other examples.
It is clear that Ireland is not a priority for Tom Tom and just look at Garmin to see how they guarantee a pre-loaded up to date Ireland map with speed cameras etc for competitive rates .
Ask any estate agent what they recommend and they will tell you also that Tom Tom is no good and that Garmin is the only viable option.
Unfortunately I tried to save money because I already had a tom tom but it has cost me as will now have to purchase a Garmin.

I also got the address on my TT but it brought me to Strangford miles away. The other address was not on the device.
My Tom tom is version 2.8.3.2499 Device Code AKT26AJE7E SER NO PN4419A03050.
Dont tell me to buy a new map as did that about a year ago and it is useless.
