Latest Map Guarantee for GoLive825

I've just bought a GoLive825 withe the latest map guarantee and according to the device the currently instaslled map is Map: 'Australia" v880.3808. When I connect to MyTomTom it says that the map is up to date. However you web site advises that there is an update available for my map and that I should have v885. I have tried clearing the cache and resetting the GoLive device, but no change. Would appreciate some help with this one, as I'm now at a loss as to how to update.

@RichardJB: In case it is not the first time that you've connected the unit to the PC and updated it, it might be the case that you had an older map installed, and under the latest map guarantee, it updated to v880 at that time. If it is not the case, as it was said earlier, get in touch with CS via the phone.

Incidentally, the offer on the website is quite clear in my view  ie. that if there is a v885 within 90 days and even a subsequent v890 within the 90 days, then I am entitled to both updates under consumer law. Here is the wording on the MyTomTom overview page:

 

"Latest Map Guarantee: if a newer map becomes available for your device within 90 days of first use, you can download a free map here."

It is partially true. If you connect your device for the first time, and say you had v875 or earlier map, and you don't connect for the second time for 90 days, and on the last day there is v890, then yes, you can have it. If you had say again v875 or earlier, connected first and there was a v880, than that was your guarantee. The latest map guarantee is for the sole purpose to make sure that you have the latest map at time of purchase, as your unit might been in the store for say 2 years on the shelf with a v750 map installed for ex. It is not for giving you 2-3 bonus updates within 90 days.

That's not what the wording says Zsolt. It's quite clear from the wording that for 90 days from purchase, if a newer map becomes available, it will be provided free. I'd be very surprised and disappointed If TomTom were to come back to me with an explanation which parallels yours, which I would conjsider to be weasel words. If they did, I would immediately have to take it up with Consumer Affairs. Let's hope that doesn't happen. I'll let you know.

I do understand what you say, just telling you what normally is the answer here on the forum. As you quoted, they allow you to download "A free map", not free MAPS. You can fight about the wording, but you can explain both statements with the same context.

Just to let you know that I did enquire through TomTom Customer Service regarding the map guarantee. They were very prompt with their follow up and,  after I provided proof of purchase, provided the updated v.885 through MyTomTom. So very impressed and will now be buying more maps at a later stage.

What was their statement about the available map downloads within the 90 days? Many other users here said they were told as it was downloaded once, second update couldn't be offered.
