Hi there, I have had a Go for 5 years and the North America map is well out of date. Was more cost effective for me to buy a new USA map rather than update. Did this at work on a different PC so when I got home I logged onto to the website, downloaded HOME 2 and installed on laptop, plugged in my GO 910 but cannot see how to download the new map.
Solved! Go to Solution.

Tried 12 hours later - 24 hours after purchase - and can now download. Sounds like the Tomtom distribution servers were over loaded.

I bought the map from USA like 15 days ago, plugged my XL, but cannot see how to download the new map. I don't know what I have to do.

I bought the USA map yesterday, and after contacting customer support and working with the guy on the phone for about an hour and a half, figured that I just had to wait 24 hours for the map to appear under the updates section. It's been over 24 hours and it's still not available. I'm driving into the States tomorrow and I would like to know where I'm going. Is there an activation code I can use or a way to speed up the process?

Glad this forum is available to answer questions when phone support is 'out-of-office', but it would be preferred if Tomtom could advise you that maps purchased will not be available for 24 hours. ESPECIALLY when your credit card payment is cheerfully processed within milli-seconds, it would be helpful to know about this 'waiting period'.
I purchased a UK map yeterday at 6pm, scheduled to travel there by 2:30 today, but I guess I can take comfort in the fact that my map update will be available after I've driven 2 hours to my hotel from the airport. This is NOT support, this is just creating frustration and customer hostility through lack of communication.

I agree, I have been waiting to download the map as i need it tonight and still no sign of it. Really frustrated. I wished they told me before byuing it as I would have ued my iphone instead!

I have since had my problem fixed. The problem was that the map I downloaded was designed for the text-to-speech model of the same Tom Tom I have. Once they figured that out I had my new map within 15 minutes. I would call back and see if that is your problem as well. (When we purchased our map online, it never asked if our model had text-to-speech capabilities...so it gave us the wrong map after assuming.)

Nice suggestion, but text-to-speech is on my model.
The map was only 'available for download' after 48 hours or so. Again, useless to me since I was already across the Atlantic and sitting in a Celtenham hotel by that time.

So, I can expect to get the update tomorrow some time? I will have to get to a computer somehow... The 24-hour delay is definately an issue... This tidbit should feature prominently in sales pitch / advert / help info.
I'll be in London for some time, though. Eventual use will still be helpful... sooner the better tho'

I purchased a map yesterday for upcoming trip, but 12 hours later, still no activation code or map to download. What gives?
