I have seached the forums for days. Tried everything I read, and can think of. When attempting to install (download is fine) the latest map, it fails at about 62% every time. Tried multiple computers, disabled AV, changed port to 5000 & 4001, running MyTomTom in XP and Win98 compatability mode, different cable, Windows 7 64 bit and 32 bit, cleared cache, reset unit, Chrome browser, etc.
Finally got frustrated and called CS. They had no interest in helping. Was told they had a server problem and to try back on Monday. I asked if the servers had been down all week since I've been trying since last weekend. He said yes, sorry, try monday. I am pretty sure he just wanted to leave since it was 7:55 pm EST, and support hours end at 8:00 pm EST.
Very frustrated as the unit is useless since it cleared the previous map. Not sure what else to try. Any suggestions welcome!!
Any way to manually load? Get back the old map?

i am having the exact same problem..
if it truly is a server issue (i previously purchased the exact model and ended up having to return it as CS said i got a dud) then a reply on the forum would help if the CS hours don't include Sundays.
who knew i'd end up relying on my Blackberry of all things to navigate my trip tomorrow!

have you updated to app 11.030? The app is much more stable for map installs.
Also, it may be a "no space" situation. Perhaps installing an SD card might help.
Otherwise, CS may be right that it is a server issue.

Follow-up:
I downloaded OS version 11.031. Retried the map install; exact same failure. Called CS (this time more than an hour before they close). I explained everything I've done, and they concluded the internal memory is bad. Replacing the device via RMA.
I asked if this was common. Response was not common, but has happened and they are aware of it.
Hope this helps someone else. Thanks to those who offered their help!!

Hi
Are you using a Mac or PC?
as during installation the tt unit will restart so try installing the first part,
Disconnecting and starting up the unit,
if all works backup the unit
then connect and install the USA and Canada map update if that fails then try downloading this part again to see if that makes a difference. ![]()

UPDATE: received my replacement unit. Used it for a few weeks before attempting a map update. Finally tried to update this weekend. SAME EXACT ISSUE.... Called CS. They told me to remove the device drivers and re-install. Didn't work. Still working thru the issue with CS. Not sure what next step is....

I had the same installation problems with the VIA 1435 failing the download (haven't had my GPS for 2 weeks!)
I successfully downloaded by doing the following:
(1) downloading and installing google chrome
(2) uninstalling my tomtom software
(3) going into google chrome and entering www.tomtom.com/getstarted and downloading mytomtom again
(4) downloaded the map again
SUCCESS!
