We purchased a Tomtom Via 1500TM model whilst in the US recently. It had lifetime download map updates with overseas maps available. We have since returned to Australia but cannot download the Australian maps as our Tomtom cannot locate a satellite. Tomtom Vias are available for purchase in Australia but when we select the region as Australia it says maps not available as yet. Any assistance anyone could give would be greatly appreciated. I think if it can find the right satellite it may help.

If you have a TomTom VIA and you're trying to get new maps, you need to connect your TomTom to the computer and use a program called MyTomTom to download and install the maps. The satellite signal is used to find your position on the map, they don't have anything to do with the download of updates.
Because you purchased the TomTom in the US, the lifetime updates apply to the US maps, not the Australian maps. I'd recommend giving our support team a call to see if they will be able to help and check into this further with you. The number is: 1300 135 604 and they are open from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 pm.
