I am having trouble.
I have a TomTom Live 825, and I purchased 18 months worth of maps today. My map is Europe 8.75, and I understood there was a newer version avialable from the promo e-mail I got inviting me to buy an 18 months subscription.
The MyTomTom keeps saying I am up to date.
When I go to manage content, I always get under Maps:
Version: v8.75
Active on your device
and sometimes I get:
Map Update Service valid until 30-09-2013
I have watch that last line disappear in front of my eyes, and seem it come back later!
I have cleared my cache, rebooted the computer, rebooted the TomTom to get the drums sound as advised above, but I am not getting any 8.80 action.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

I have not been able to update my device beginning with "BL" for nine months. Kind of crappy, especially since I have lifetime map updates and now the device complains about being out of date, then the PC app assures me that it is.
Any ETC on this issue?

I called customer services yesterday, and even though I was at work and the device and host were at home, they were able to diagnose the issue and reset something at the TomTom end. Got home, plugged it in, and the new map downloaded and installed perfectly.
I think the assistant who helped me was very pleased not to be dealing with an irate customer who couldn't get a satellite fix with the current bug!!

I called yesterday as well. The rep reset something on the back end which allowed for a map update to be installed.
However, the MyTomTom application now tells me I have a new update available... which turns out to be the old map version from 9 months ago.

Hi I purchased my Via 1400 back in August and i had problem entering the lifetime map update. When customer service fixed the problem, they said that they gave me the USA life time map. The one I have is Canada-USA-Mexico since I live in Canada. When I wrote back to them, they said that CAnada would be included in the USA update. I have that USA map update right now and when I click on the information for it, it does not mention that CAnada is included in it. Is there anything I should do to get the map of Canada-USA-Mexico updated as per what I purchased. I never received any update for the map in Canada and I know there is some changes to some roads. tks

I have the same problem with my GO LIVE 825. MyTomTom says that the device is up to date, but the map is more than one year old. I have spent hours trying to solve the problem with the customer support, but it didn't work out. Should have bought the Garmin.

The chap I spoke to was excellent. I don't entirely understand the nuances of the product, but the issue he very quickly identified was that my device was capable of computer generated voices for place names etc. Somehow the update package that had been set up for me didn't acknowledge this, and he had to reset it. Then it all worked fine, and my new map enjoys the computerised voice mashing up all the words just as it did before!
It might be worth asking CS if this triggers any ideas?
In my case, the TomTom lives at home, and CS are open whilst I am at work. The agent was able to work with the information I had gathered and sort it out without the device to hand. When I got home, everything worked just as he promised.
Good luck.

I wasn't able to do the map update after the purchase. After spending hours trying to update the map the customer support of TomTom found out that they needed to link the proper map to my account. If you cannot see the map in your profile it might be that you have the same problem.
