New map is not available in HOME or MyTomTom?

If you've recently purchased a new map, but you can't see it in the list of available items to download, check these steps first:

 

  • Are you logged in to TomTom HOME or MyTomTom with the correct email address? 

The maps you purchase from TomTom only become available when you're logged in with the email address you used for the purchase.

You can check this in the upper right corner of TomTom HOME or in the MyTomTom account box.

 

  • Did you purchase the correct map for your navigation device?

TomTom maps are built specifically for the various navigation device ranges, this means that if you've accidentally purchased a map for another navigation device, you will need to contact support to get the map changed to a compatible version. 

You can always check exactly what device you have by filling in the first two letters of the serial number here.

 

Please note: Maps that have already been (partially) downloaded cannot be changed or refunded as per our Terms and Conditions.

I can answer YES to both questions.

 

I purchased a US map for my VIA 220

 

But I still cannot see it in the list of available items to download.  I rang and spoke to one of your staff for more then an hour.  No matter what we did it just didn't work.  His suggestion was to try another PC or ask for a refund.  Not the answers I was looking for.

Hi gm57,

I've checked your account and can see that the device you have is a 2GB device. The USA map is 2400MB (2.4 GB).
We do not have a USA map that fits on 2GB. I have informed support about this.

Hi,

MyTomTom advised me that a newer map was available for my GO1000 and to get it to purchase 1yr upgrade which I did(#318966458). Now when I log on to MyTomTom it tells me it is up-to-date!! Can you please explain. I expected it to inform me a new map was available for download

Try:

  1. Resetting the unit by holding the power button for about 10-15 seconds till you hear the drum sounds AND
  2. In MyTTSA's desktop icon-->Settings-->Empty the Cache and save the settings.

Thankyou for the prompt reply. As adivsed, rebooted and emptied cache. Still same message on re-connection..... your navigation device is up-to-date. Map currently installed is NZ v865.3243. Is there an updated version or was the intial message incorrect

The latest is 880 which was released on November 19th.

A solution:

 

For others who may have this problem. My issue involved Windows 7 Explorer it would'nt allow My TomTom page to fully download. Solution - if menu is not showing go Alt T and choose 'Compatibility View'. The update then appeared in 'My New Items'.

I've recently bought a Tomtom Via 125 unit, which was offered with 2 years of free map updates. Even though MyTomtom and the unit itself reports that the active map version is 8.60 in the unit and the most up-to-date version of Turkey's map is v8.80 (at least that's what I see when I try to buy a Turkey map in Tomtom's web page), MyTomtom says "my map is already up to date". Resetting unit, cleaning cache of MyTomtom, etc. didn't work. What can I do? Should I buy a map to be able to update (and consider the false promise of 2 years of free updates as merely a marketing strategy) ?
