Hello, I have just downloaded map of Austraila (143 MB) onto my TomTom XL IQ Routes, after looking at my TomTom Home it says its now on the device. However, if I try to Switch Maps on the device I cannot see the Austraila map listed, just my original South Africa one.
Heeeelllllppppppp.

Are you saying the map is not listed as available to switch to, or is it that you DO select it but then no map details appear? In that case it would be because you're not in Australia - the map details will only show when you are in that country.
What is showing when you look at it with Windows Explorer? You should have two folders - South Africa and Australia.

Thanks for the reply. When using the device, when I select switch maps, the new Austraila map is not even listed as an option. I will try operating the device from my computer as suggested when I get home from work. I will post up the out come, either way. Might need more help!

Being able to use a map doesn't depend on location. You can prepare a route or browse a map of Australia, even in South Africa. As long as you can see the other map, you pick the one you wish and can browse all along that map.
Worst case, just give a call to CS, and they will check what went wrong.

Bizarre, I can see the Austraila folder on mt TT using windows explorer on my computer, I can also operate my device using the TT Home on the computer and switch maps to the austraila one which is a visible option, I can even navigate to an address in Melbourne so the map is definitely in there.
However.................... when i disconnect the device (after having switched to the Austraila map) it reverts back to my SA map and does not show the Oz map as an option under switch maps???????
I will call CS and get them to explain themselves. maybe Austraila has sunk. I will report back once I get this sorted.

Just be aware that operating the device in Home is not the same as operating the device standalone, so switching to the map in Home is probably NOT switching in the 730.
One thing may be worth mentioning, namely disconnecting properly (thoroughly) from Home. Click to disconnect, BUT when it says you can now disconnect, do NOT disconnect - wait until the 730 reboots, then asks if you want to connect to computer, answer NO, then when the 730 has rebooted and shows the (any) map screen, disconnect. Disconnecting too soon has caused any number of niggles in the past (Sure, if Home says you can disconnect, it would be logical to assume you CAN disconnect, but many people have found it a bit dodgy).

Just an update, I am in e-mail contact with CS, i have tried factory reset, removing the map from the device and re-downloading a few times, all to no affect. I still can't switch maps to the new Oz one when disconnected from the computor.
I see there is another thread:
http://discussions.tomtom.com/t5/Map-installation/
with people having the same issue with the Oz map, so must be something wrong with the map??? I have e-mail CS about this.
Does anybody have any stroke with the TT CS that can also highlight this problem?

Update.................Now Sorted.
I was called back by CS, they took some screen shots last week and the 2nd line tech gadgees say device had been corrupted, today CS, remoted into my computor, removed everything from the device memory and re-installed the maps and stuff one at a time. It took a while (40 mins) but now I can see the Oz map and the SA map. I did lose my favourites but no big deal.
CS guy (Mark) was very helpful.
Yahoooo, off to Oz on my hols in a few days so glad it has been sorted.
