Another No Maps found...

Set-up:

  • TT XL Live
  • TT Home 2.9.0.2709
  • Vista home premium 64 / IE9 (also tried Chrome  20.0.1132.47 m)
  • Installed Maps - Western Europe
  • just purchased USA ahead of a trip ovewr the pond

Howdy TT has been operating just fine. I'm off to the USA shgortly so purchased the USA maps. Not enough room on the device for both so once downloaded, Western Europe removed and USA installed - shows up on the device and in TT Home as installed, However, on turning on device, no maps found.

I have done lots of forum digging and have tried:

  • Removing map from device and re downloading and installing  (3 times) - still no maps
  • Updating TT Home
  • going back to Western Europe (works fine) and then selecting USA - no maps found

I'm at my wits end with the device - I've paid £47 and it doesn't work!

Any advice please??

Regards

Loumate

Re: Another No Maps found...

Try to run the Clear Flash Tool 3 times:

http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/6178/

Further steps if no luck:

Try to do a soft reset first. Either a pin hole on the bottom, or press and hold the on button, until you hear the drum roll (if your device has no pin hole).

If the above worked, happy days, if not, try the one below:

1. Save everything from the device, using Explorer (or Finder on Mac), include all the files (hidden as well). It is also known as a manual backup: http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/13354/

2. Then format the internal storage (or memory card, depending which one you use) of your device. http://uk.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/16172/

3. Go to TT HOME, Manage my "DEVICE", delete everything from the hard drive and try the update again.

4. Copy your voices and post codes back to the devices (also the maps if that didn't download either).

Re: Another No Maps found...

If the purchased map was downloaded properly, it'll be found here in compressed format:

C:\Documents and Settings\yourname\My Documents\TomTom\HOME\Downloads\complete\maps\

and you can install it manually without Home. See here:

http://www.tomtomforums.com/t18197-how-install-downloaded-map-without-using-home.html

Try that method.

[ Edited ]

Many thanks - the second method from Zsolt worked a treat and I can now swap between USA and GB maps...

Re: Another No Maps found...

Did she buy the map under the correct account? Give a cal to customer services to double check the account and that purchase.
