? I got software update from TOMTOM website via myTOMTOM application (as it should be). I do not understand your question. IT DOES NOT DEPEND as it's the only way to get the software update. Custommer support is unreachable no matter what time I call them and there are no answers to my emails. When you pay you expect at least someone respond to your questions. I will really discourage anybody who would like to buy TOMTOM in the future.

If you've just bought it, and it was all sealed, it supposed to update the map as well to v885. I have a feeling that yours is an ex-display or customer return. v870 is actually 4 quarter late. It makes sense if it was one of the previously mentioned units. They have to either replace or re-activate the map download (latest map guarantee) and the LIVE. I would go for a new one...or for the refund as you said earlier.

Welcome to being a Tomtom customer. They'll treat you, well actually they don't.
Spread the word - Tomtom is a bad purchase decision.
Suggest return to seller "As not fit for purpose". Write to tomtom or whoever sold it to you stating just that.
This whole episode and period shows TT non help, inability.
