Update: It was a long and arduous attempt to work with Customer Service to get it right. I received my new unit today and it works perfectly. Of course I now discover that as Tom Tom Home was a wonderful application for managing content on my xxl, My Tom Tom app is practically useless on the Go series. Many many people have already logged complaints over not being able to use mapshare, community poi's, (I can't even register for the lifetime maps that was promised with my unit) and other things that were promised by TomTom and not delivered with the GO series so I won't vent that here.
Suffice it to say that when I finally talked to three supervisors and over 10 customer service reps over a three weeks period, I got a working unit just in time to make it with me on my travels. So I am happy for now.
thanks for listening

I cannot even find how to send TomTom an e-mail message. I don't currently have a TomTom device, and I earlier reported a mapping error, but drivers are still making the same mistake. But my Question is closed, so I cannot add or ask for more information, and any attempt to find somewhere to send an e-mail to requires the serial number of my non-existent device.
Grrr! This is stupid. Why is there not a simple 'Send E-Mail' link? I see references to such a tab, but there is no tab!

there is no tab to e-mail tt. it just takes you to the tech support page. I suggest calling support and insist they direct you to this so called tab!

Great idea, but I can't find a 'phone number either! it looks as though they only want questions that they can answer, not those that people want to ask.

Log into tomtom.com for your country (UK for you specifically). Click on the Support tab. On the bottom right is the phone number you can call. UK users also have 'Live Chat' functionality.
